Day 1: Naples and its underground
Land at the airport of Naples, and meet your local guide. A
bus transfer to Naples has been arranged for you; check in
in your central 4*. Together with a local guide, visit the city
centre (on Unesco heritage list). See the historical centre -
the buzzing piazzas and the cultural highlights.
In the afternoon you can have a chance to descend into the
underground world of Naples – under the city lies a
Labyrinth of tunnels, tanks and cavities. Built as mines for
the stone used to construct the buildings, the tunnels were
then used as catacombs, secret meeting places, and shelter
during World War II. Dinner and overnight stay in Naples.
Day 2: Vesuvius by 4x4 and Pompeii
After breakfast, check out. Head south, and in about 30
Min reach the archeological site of Pompeii. Together with
a local guide you will walk through this important site,
destroyed about 2000 years ago - it is one of the main
attractions of the bay of Naples. The guide will show you
the old streets, the thermal baths, the villas of the well-off
Romans, and other facilities.
After lunch, you will explore the Vesuvius, an active
volcano, still considered one of the most dangerous
volcanos in the world. You will reach the entrance of the
Vesuvius National Park and board 4×4 vehicles - they will
take you up to the crater of Mount Vesuvius. You will drive
through volcanic landscapes with an amazing view on the
bay of Naples. The view from here is fantastic!
In the late afternoon, reach Sorrento, check in. Dinner at
the hotel restaurant.
Day 3: Capri and Anacapri
Meet your tour leader for a full day excursion to Capri, one
of the most beautiful islands in Europe. Reach the island by
a local ferry. In a minibus, proceed to Anacapri, the quiet
neighbour of the principal town Capri. Anacapri is a
charming whitewashed village, lying high in the mountains
(you may also wish to reach Mount Solaro with a chairlift).
In the late afternoon, weather permitting, it is possible to
explore the famous Blue Grotto (Grotta Azzurra), a magical
cave of about 50 m, which appears to glow in a bright blue
light. You can enter the grotto in small boats though a tight
opening. Return to Sorrento and dinner.
Day 4: Amalfi in a cabrio
After a briefing regarding the driving rules and safety, you
will explore the Sorrento Coast in a cabrio (Volkswagen
Maggiolone, FIAT 500 or Alfa Romeo).
Reach Positano for a brief visit. This fascinating small town
lies on a cliff, and from there a wonderful view over the
Mediterranean Sea and the Amalfi Coast opens. Then head
towards Ravello – formerly a fisherman’s village, but today
– one of the most charming places on the whole Amalfi
Coast. In the centre of the village you will find the glorious
church of Santa Maria Assunta, which boasts a majolica
cupola. Of course, a visit of Amalfi is on the programme
too!
Day 5: The secrets of pizza and limoncello
making
Breakfast at the hotel. Today you will learn the secrets of
two culinary delights that have become real symbols!
Before lunch you will have a chance to make your own
pizzas – it is a unique experience to learn the secrets of the
authentic pizza this region is so proud of! You will be shown
how to prepare the pizza dough and the pizza toppings.
You will also visit a lemon grove and taste limoncello. You will
take a walk through the lemon grove and learn how to
prepare this delicious liquor.
Farewell dinner in Sorrento.
Day 6: After lunch, transfer to the airport and departure.
