see the rooms of the palace and the prisons, which
offers an exciting insight into the history of the
Republic of Venice during its golden times, when it
was a mighty maritime republic. You will see the
Office of the Great Chancellor, the Chamber of the
Secret Chancellery, the Chambers of the Inquisitors,
and other rooms and chambers of the Venetian
administration, arriving at the torture chamber and
the prison cells.
Murano and the secrets of mask-making
After breakfast, you will enjoy a tour in the Venetian
Lagoon – you will also reach the islands of Murano
and Burano. Burano is among the most colourful
cities in the world; you will be intrigued by the
reflections of the houses in the green water, the
tranquility of the local ladies while embroidering, and
the solemnity of the leaning bell tower! Proceed to
Murano, an island famous for glass-blowing – you will
visit one of the glass workshops – fornaci – and
observe how the curious, hand-crafted objects from
glass are made.
Undoubtedly, one of the symbols of Venice are the
carnival masks. After lunch at a typical “osteria”, you
will discover the secret of how Venetian masks are
made. In this authentic workshop authentic marks are
made, you will decorate you own papier mâché mask;
