Gaonim and their period. Without the German title page and
introduction at the end of the book. With Ex Libris of Mordechai
Amram Hersh. According to Vinograd there is no complete
copy in the Jerusalem National Library.

138. Responsa of R’ Shlomo Eiger,

Responsa about the leniency of eating “kitniyot” on Passover
at a time there was a shortage in potatoes. R’ Shlomo Eiger
was the son of R’Akiva Eiger, the well-known Rabbi of Posen,
and author of Gilayon Maharsh”a. An interesting responsa
written during a drought year, bringing a specific leniency for
that year alone and for only two types of “kitniyot”, with other
reservations. At the end of the responsa is a letter by the leaders
of the Posen community who sent the responsa to the public “In
order that our Jewish brethren will have food available on this
festival and there will be some relief for the broken hearted and
p overty stricken.” Extremely rare, other lithographs from
Posen are not known.
