After the resounding success of its<br />
first session, La Martiniere Girls’ College<br />
hosted the second session of <strong>LMGMUN</strong><br />
from 10th June to 12th June, 2016. There<br />
was an orientation ceremony on the 9th<br />
June at Hotel Silvete, to brief the delegates<br />
about the rules of procedure and other<br />
deliberations at an MUN in general, and at<br />
<strong>LMGMUN</strong> in particular. The venue for the<br />
conference was Hotel India Awadh.<br />
A target of approximately 300<br />
delegates from the city and beyond was<br />
achieved. Delegates from prestigious<br />
schools like La Martiniere College, Study<br />
Hall, Seth M.R. Jaipuria, St. Francis’ College,<br />
CMS Rajendra Nagar, CMS Rajajipuram, The<br />
Millennium School, DPS Eldeco, The Doon<br />
School and DPS Yamunanagar participated<br />
in the proceedings of the conference over<br />
the course of three days.<br />
The Secretariat had Eerishika Pankaj<br />
as the Secretary General, Pranjya Grover as<br />
the Deputy Secretary General, Shubhi Singh<br />
and KritikaKoshyari as Under Secretary<br />
Generals for Delegate Affairs and Finance<br />
respectively, Snigdha Bhardwaj as the Head<br />
of IT and Design and Mahima Gurnani and<br />
Muskan Gurnani as the Heads of Logistics.<br />
Mitali Bhasin headed the International<br />
Press with Devyanshi Agarwal and Fizza<br />
Suhel as Co-Editors who released three<br />
issues of ‘The Spectre’ encompassing the<br />
essence of the events. Anoushka Srivastava<br />
and Shilpa Pandey were Heads of<br />
Photography and covered all the days of the<br />
conference. The Executive Board was selected<br />
after judicious consideration by the Secretariat<br />
from the vast majority of applications from<br />
experienced MUNners from all across India.<br />
<strong>LMGMUN</strong>’16 simulated five committees<br />
chiefly aimed at giving the delegates an insight<br />
into the various global issues and the working<br />
of the United Nations. The committees and their<br />
respective agendas were as follows:<br />
1.United Nations Security Council (Crisis<br />
Committee): The Kurdish Question<br />
<strong>2.</strong>Social, Humanitarian Cultural Committee:<br />
(a) Question of International Standards on<br />
Prostitution and (b) Discussing the ‘Right to<br />
Religion’ with preeminence given to Religious<br />
Manifestations<br />
3.The Disarmament and International Security<br />
Committee: (a) Question of diplomatic immunity<br />
for UN Peacekeepers breaking local laws and (b)<br />
Reform of the UN Peacekeeping with emphasis<br />
on the creation of a standing UN Force.<br />
4.League of Nations - The German Invasion of<br />
Poland, freeze date: 1st September, 1939<br />
5.Advisory Panel: Curbing the Al- Shabaab<br />
Insurgency<br />
At the opening ceremony, which was held<br />
in the college auditorium, Mrs. Bulbul Godiyal,<br />
the first woman Advocate General of UP was<br />
the Chief Guest and Mr. Partha Sarthi Sharma,<br />
Secretary to the CM’s office, was the Guest of<br />
Honour.<br />
The second and third day saw the<br />
committees discussing and resolving the agenda<br />
at hand with renewed vigour. An informal get<br />
together was organized in the evening at Hotel<br />
Levana for all the delegates.<br />
At the closing ceremony, Mrs. Kismet<br />
Sagar and Mr. Jaideep Mathur were the Chief<br />

The Secretariat with teacher incharge<br />
Guest and the Guest of Honour respectively. The<br />
<strong>LMGMUN</strong> team was applauded with a standing<br />
ovation for the well planned conference. The<br />
Best Delegation Award was bagged by La<br />
Martiniere Girls’ College, Lucknow.<br />
We would like to express our gratitude<br />
to Mr. David and Mrs. Falls, who helped the<br />
Secretariat with the infrastructural requirements<br />
and the La Martiniere Girls’ Alumni Association<br />
(LMGAA) for providing aid in the areas concerning<br />
finance. Mrs. A. Dass, the Vice- Principal, is<br />
profoundly thanked for her constant guidance<br />
and assistance.<br />
Mrs. Anjana Ambili, the faculty advisor for the<br />
MUN Club was instrumental in giving shape to<br />
the entire conference along with the help of<br />
Mrs. M. Kalra, Mrs. S.Tagore, Mrs. D. Sagar, Mrs.<br />
K. Roy, Mrs. M. Ranjit, Mrs. C. Prasad,<br />
Mr. M. Lugun, Mrs. P. Kapoor and Mrs. M.Tripathi.<br />
Mrs. Ambili was one of the most important<br />
pillars of the conference. With her undying faith<br />
in the girls and her zeal to make <strong>LMGMUN</strong> a<br />
success, she kept the Secretariat motivated and<br />
dedicated towards the conference.<br />
Our beloved Principal, late Mrs. F.<br />
Abraham, was the driving force behind this<br />
conference which proved to be a remarkable<br />
success.<br />
