The Closing Ceremony

REPORT
After the resounding success of its
first session, La Martiniere Girls’ College
hosted the second session of LMGMUN
from 10th June to 12th June, 2016. There
was an orientation ceremony on the 9th
June at Hotel Silvete, to brief the delegates
about the rules of procedure and other
deliberations at an MUN in general, and at
LMGMUN in particular. The venue for the
conference was Hotel India Awadh.
A target of approximately 300
delegates from the city and beyond was
achieved. Delegates from prestigious
schools like La Martiniere College, Study
Hall, Seth M.R. Jaipuria, St. Francis’ College,
CMS Rajendra Nagar, CMS Rajajipuram, The
Millennium School, DPS Eldeco, The Doon
School and DPS Yamunanagar participated
in the proceedings of the conference over
the course of three days.
The Secretariat had Eerishika Pankaj
as the Secretary General, Pranjya Grover as
the Deputy Secretary General, Shubhi Singh
and KritikaKoshyari as Under Secretary
Generals for Delegate Affairs and Finance
respectively, Snigdha Bhardwaj as the Head
of IT and Design and Mahima Gurnani and
Muskan Gurnani as the Heads of Logistics.
Mitali Bhasin headed the International
Press with Devyanshi Agarwal and Fizza
Suhel as Co-Editors who released three
issues of ‘The Spectre’ encompassing the
essence of the events. Anoushka Srivastava
and Shilpa Pandey were Heads of
Photography and covered all the days of the
conference. The Executive Board was selected
after judicious consideration by the Secretariat
from the vast majority of applications from
experienced MUNners from all across India.
LMGMUN’16 simulated five committees
chiefly aimed at giving the delegates an insight
into the various global issues and the working
of the United Nations. The committees and their
respective agendas were as follows:
1.United Nations Security Council (Crisis
Committee): The Kurdish Question
2.Social, Humanitarian Cultural Committee:
(a) Question of International Standards on
Prostitution and (b) Discussing the ‘Right to
Religion’ with preeminence given to Religious
Manifestations
3.The Disarmament and International Security
Committee: (a) Question of diplomatic immunity
for UN Peacekeepers breaking local laws and (b)
Reform of the UN Peacekeeping with emphasis
on the creation of a standing UN Force.
4.League of Nations - The German Invasion of
Poland, freeze date: 1st September, 1939
5.Advisory Panel: Curbing the Al- Shabaab
Insurgency
At the opening ceremony, which was held
in the college auditorium, Mrs. Bulbul Godiyal,
the first woman Advocate General of UP was
the Chief Guest and Mr. Partha Sarthi Sharma,
Secretary to the CM’s office, was the Guest of
Honour.
The second and third day saw the
committees discussing and resolving the agenda
at hand with renewed vigour. An informal get
together was organized in the evening at Hotel
Levana for all the delegates.
At the closing ceremony, Mrs. Kismet
Sagar and Mr. Jaideep Mathur were the Chief

The Secretariat with teacher incharge
Guest and the Guest of Honour respectively. The
LMGMUN team was applauded with a standing
ovation for the well planned conference. The
Best Delegation Award was bagged by La
Martiniere Girls’ College, Lucknow.
We would like to express our gratitude
to Mr. David and Mrs. Falls, who helped the
Secretariat with the infrastructural requirements
and the La Martiniere Girls’ Alumni Association
(LMGAA) for providing aid in the areas concerning
finance. Mrs. A. Dass, the Vice- Principal, is
profoundly thanked for her constant guidance
and assistance.
Mrs. Anjana Ambili, the faculty advisor for the
MUN Club was instrumental in giving shape to
the entire conference along with the help of
Mrs. M. Kalra, Mrs. S.Tagore, Mrs. D. Sagar, Mrs.
K. Roy, Mrs. M. Ranjit, Mrs. C. Prasad,
Mr. M. Lugun, Mrs. P. Kapoor and Mrs. M.Tripathi.
Mrs. Ambili was one of the most important
pillars of the conference. With her undying faith
in the girls and her zeal to make LMGMUN a
success, she kept the Secretariat motivated and
dedicated towards the conference.
Our beloved Principal, late Mrs. F.
Abraham, was the driving force behind this
conference which proved to be a remarkable
success.
