The awards are open to
everyone from charitable and
voluntary organisations to
individual unsung heroes, that
have made a difference to life in
Calderdale. The awards will be a
night to remember and a muchdeserved
showcase for the
people who make Calderdale
the caring and creative place
we all know and love.
The Community Foundation for Calderdale
(CFFC) are delighted to be hosting the very
popular annual Community Spirit Awards.
Since the last awards in July 2015 so much has
happened… On Boxing day 2015 much of
Calderdale felt the impact of Storm Eva
resulting in the worst flooding in living memory,
we have had a deep recession and now
experiencing austerity and political
uncertainty, and to top it all - barbaric acts of
terrorism… But one thing is for sure regardless
of what is thrown at us in Calderdale we are a
resilient lot and CFFC promises you a
memorable, heart-warming and inspirational
charity awards event to look forward to in
September!
I would like to take this opportunity to thank
Calderdale Council for allowing us to use the
Shay Stadium to host the awards and a

CATEGORIES AND CRITERIA
Outstanding Achievement Award – Wilby Ltd
Awarded to a person who has demonstrated dedication, professionalism and integrity
throughout their career, and who has produced a demonstrably positive effect on the
sector through their work and management over at least a 15 year period.
Charity of the Year - Riley & Co
Awarded to a charity that has delivered outstanding service to its beneficiaries, promoted
and raised its cause, been clear in its goals and strategy, and demonstrated excellence,
especially within the last year.
Best New Charity - Lattitude7
Awarded to a charity (registered after September 2015) that has made a demonstrable
impact since its foundation, achieved awareness of its cause, mission and activities, and
set the foundations of excellent management and accountability for the future.
Corporate and Community Partnership – ABS Print
Awarded to a commercial company and a local charity that have had a demonstrably
positive impact on the local community in 2016/17.
Great and Green - Available
Awarded to an individual, school or charity which is having a positive impact on the
community and/or raising the profile of environmental issues.
Arts and Culture – Croft Myl
Awarded to a charity active in the arts (visual arts-music-film-photography-writing-dramadance-design)
which has demonstrated passion and enthusiasm in making a significant
contribution to the wider community.

CATEGORIES AND CRITERIA
Social care, advice and support - Available
Awarded to a charity demonstrating dedication and professionalism in providing care and
support to the most vulnerable people in our community; in tackling issues such as
loneliness, dementia support, social isolation, helping to change attitudes and promote the
needs of vulnerable people locally.
Governance - Available
Awarded to a board of trustees (or management committee) that has championed the charity
and has identified and responded to an opportunity for the benefit of the community that the
charity exists to serve. Examples could include new ways of working, whether alone or in
partnership, and new fundraising or financial models.
Breakthrough of the Year - Available
Awarded to a charity for successfully developing something new or different. Areas could
include supporter and/or donor engagement, putting a piece of research to good use,
extending the reach of the charity or introducing a new way of working.
Fundraising Campaign – Localgiving.com
Awarded to a campaigning team of a charity on the basis of innovative approaches coupled
with exceeding funding targets during 2016/17.
Best Use of Technology – Digital Renovators
Awarded to a charity which has demonstrated an innovative and effective use of technology
in any area of its operations in 2016/17. Examples could include the innovative use of a
website, mobile technology, social media and other forms of technology.

As a category sponsor you will receive;
Coverage in the Halifax Courier and on line.
The first article will appear late June early July before the launch of the
prestigious event, and will focus on the categories and give full details
of how to nominate.
The second article will appear after the award ceremony, and will have full details of the
event and our winners.
Dedicated awards website - the awards will have their own website in
addition to coverage on the Halifax Courier website. Each sponsor will have their logo
alongside their chosen category.
Two tickets to the prestigious event, including 3 course dinner and drinks
reception. And further tickets available at £20 per person.
Company logo linked to the category your business is sponsoring on all printed
material at the event including menu card, big screen and brochure.
The trophy presented to your category winner will include your company logo.
Company name mentioned at didn’t points during the event.
A representative from your company can present the award for your designated category.
The total cost of this sponsorship opportunity is £500 (VAT is not chargeable)
