All Praise and glory to

All Praise and glory to our Lord Jesus Christ! It is my joy to write a few lines to the first issue of Berita TAC, for the year 2017. I do so on behalf of my two Associate Lay Leaders too - Samuel Peter and Guna David. The President's theme for our Conference is "Seeking God's Glory", precisely the purpose of His Body and Bride, the Church - I Cor.10:31! We all must align ourselves to this vision, cascade it down to every TAC member and move forward in the coming days, to seek only His glory. Jesus glorified the Father on earth and asked the Father to glorify the Son in return. (John 17:4-5) As we seek only God's glory, He will glorify us in due time! The theme focuses more on our motives than our actions. Nothing can be hidden from the Lord! He sees our heart (I Sam.16:7)! Let us learn to work along with our Pastors in unity, seeking only the Lord's glory. I take his opportunity to congratulate the Chairman and members of the Board of Publication and especially the Editor, for taking on this difficult task. I assure you of our prayers. Thank you. God bless. S. Selvaraj Conference Lay Leader B.K.QUIZ 3 / 2016 - Answers 1.Zarephath 2.Ahijah 3.Elymas(Bar-Jesus) 4. seventy 5. Asher 6. It became as black as sackcloth(of hair) 7. HOPE IN THE JESUS OF NOW John 11:25-26 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?” John 11 records the event of the death and resurrection of Lazarus and the discourse that Jesus has with Martha and Mary. Mary, Martha and Lazarus were close friends of Jesus. Each time Jesus went to Jerusalem, he would visit them at Bethany, about two miles from Jerusalem. One day Lazarus fell sick. The sisters tried hard to control his temperature but he only deteriorated. When the sisters heard that Jesus was nearby, they sent a messenger to inform him of the grave situation. Vs. 3 The message, “Lord, the one you love is sick.” There seems to be an apparent paradox between Vs. 5 and Vs. 6. Jesus loved Mary, Martha and Lazarus – yet when he was informed that Lazarus was gravely ill, Jesus delayed his visit by two days. The purpose of the delay is recorded in Vs. 4 – He was going to be glorified through the event of Lazarus’ death and that people will see God’s power. Vs. 11 Jesus simply says that Lazarus is sleeping and that he will go to wake him up. Vs. 17 When Jesus arrived at Bethany, Lazarus had been dead and buried for four days. Vs. 18-19 The relatives of the bereaved had come to comfort the family. Vs. 20-21 Martha was the first to run out and greet Jesus. Her cry was, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.” In her grief, she could only see the Jesus of four days ago – a past Jesus. Vs. 23 Jesus said, “Your brother will rise again.” Vs. 24, 27 Martha’s response, “I know he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.” Her mind switches to the Jesus of the future – that Lazarus will be raised on the last day. But Jesus wants her to see the Jesus of now, who is standing before her. Vs. 25 Jesus says, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live even though he dies and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?” All the verbs are in the present. In other words, Jesus is trying to say, “Look at me Martha, “I am the Jesus of NOW – not the Jesus of four days ago. I am your hope here and now.” 5
