MEDICAL ASSOCIATION OF THAILAND 41 I had the opportunity to encourage our member states and countries for the unity of our profession which I think is the most important and essential to bring us Achievement First and most important: I had partly fulfilled my wish and policy in connecting the people and to meet with our members as the time allowed. Encouraged them about the medical Ethics, professional collaboration and empowered them to work for the community with the heart and soul of Medical Profession as a representative of the World Medical Association. During my visits I had also opportunity to learn a lot from their views and policies some are similar and some are different depending on their culture and economy context but they can be bonded together. Secondly: In many occasions that the WMA had produced statements either by WMA ourselves or in connection with the partners, alliances in protecting Health Professions including Medical Profession from being unacceptable illegally treated, unethical or unfair justice such as in Iran, Bahrain etc. Thirdly: I had the opportunity to encourage our member states and countries for the unity of our profession which I think is the most important and essential to bring us close relationship and ties for the international collaboration and sharing of the Medical and Health information. This will give us stronger voice in the global community.
42 แพทยสมาคมแห่งประเทศไทย ในพระบรมราชูปถัมภ์ Challenges 1. There were still barriers and political conflicts amongst states and countries and in many occasions that health provision was interfered and our Medical and Health Profession had been affected. 2. Economic Crisis that stayed for the period of my term had been a great barrier of the development of medical care in many countries. 3. Apart from the natural disasters that happened around the world and killed thousands of people and a devastating loss of economy there had been also several manmade disasters especially around the Mediterranean that took away also a lot of lives. What is my concern? Provision of Health care is the ultimate goal of all health and medical personnel, but it could not be achieved if we don’t have 1. Professional Unity 2. Ethical Practice 3. Equitable provision of Health cares 4. Global collaboration within our profession and with the other health alliances without discrimination of races, nationalities, colours, beliefs, religions, genders. 5. Care for our young generation 6. Independent from politics 7. Professional social responsibility Medical Profession needs to be sincere and trustful. Medical practice is a science supported by evidence-base, transparency, reasonable, neutral in politics, patient targeted and no boundary in between. Fake or non-evidenced allegation at each other is an important mean of tearing us apart.
