he summer of 2018 marks the 11’th year anniversary
of Rusalka Ukrainian Dance Camp and is inviting
T youth between the ages of 12 and 17 to partake and
immerse themselves in a week of Ukrainian dance
and culture. The camp will be held at the Ukrainian Park
Campground, just 10 km North of Gimli from July 15 th to 22 nd .
During the week campers will receive a unique opportunity
to get world-class Ukrainian dance instruction from none
other than Vitali Sorokotiaguine, artistic director of Yevshan
Ukrainian Folk Ballet Ensemble in Saskatoon. Vitali is well
known through Western Canada as a talented Artistic Director
who is dedicated to the preservation of Ukrainian dance.
He was honoured by Dance Saskatchewan, as someone whose
accomplishments have changed the landscape of dance in
Saskatchewan. Campers will receive three hours of dance instruction
under Vitali each day that will entail basic ballet and
character barre techniques and learning regional dances from
various areas of Ukraine that will be displayed on the last day
to family and friends.
SAUSAGE MAKERS
Meat Market Delicatessen
Other activities during the week include culturally relevant
crafts, sports, swimming, a So You Think You Can Dance competition,
and a soccer tournament. Rusalka Ukrainian Dance
Ensemble will join the campers on the last night of camp to
engage with the campers in a performance and Zabava evening.
By the end of each week campers create lasting friendships
and lifelong memories while expanding their dance knowledge
and skills. We would love to see new and returning
