“To live with Jesus in our everyday lives”

The Kingdom Life refers to the reality that we are now citizens of God's Kingdom. Because of the life, death, and

resurrection of Jesus Christ, and because we are now united to Him by faith, we have a brand new life. This new life

brings with it a new identity, a new set of priorities, a new relationship with God and with others. While the Kingdom

Life is a new life, it's important to recognize that this Kingdom Life is not something that takes us away from our

everyday lives. Rather, this Kingdom Life should directly shape and mold the way that we live our everyday lives.

When you know that your life is being lived out in God’s Kingdom, that changes how you approach everything. Let me

give an analogy to illustrate that. One day, a king wanted to check up on his people, but he didn’t want his people to

know that it was him. So, he changed into regular clothes and went out to the kingdom. While walking around, he came

upon a construction site where three people were working. He asked the first man: “What are you doing?” And the man,

with a big sigh, replied: “What does it look like I’m doing? I’m just stirring this pile of concrete.” He asked the second

man, “What are you doing?” And the man, with a tired look, replied: “Can’t you tell? I’m just stacking bricks on top of

each other.” Feeling a bit discouraged, the king hesitated to ask the third man, but this third man worked so differently

than the other two men. As he approached the third man, he heard the man humming a tune as he worked, happy as

can be. And so, the king asked him, “What are you doing?” The man stood, looked up at the sky, smiled, and said, “I’m

building the kingdom!”

Knowing that our lives are part of God’s Kingdom changes everything. Our everyday lives are no longer seen as

burdensome or boring, but rather, they are exciting opportunities to serve the King and to build the Kingdom. The most

mundane tasks are given the highest honor because it is King Jesus we are living for. And so, the crucial question at the

heart of Kingdom Life is really simple: Is Jesus your King? If Jesus is your King, then the simplest tasks take on the most

profound significance, for we are doing those things for King Jesus. Our hope at OMC: Family Chapel is that God’s

people would live out the Kingdom Life in their everyday lives.
