พระมหาธาตุเฉลิมราชศรัทธา วัดไทย<br />
กุสินาราเฉลิมราชย์ ตั้งอยู่ที่เมืองกุสิ-<br />
นารา รัฐอุตตรประเทศ สาธารณรัฐ<br />
อินเดีย มีอาจารย์วนิดา พึ่งสุนทร<br />
เป็นสถาปนิกผู้ถวายงาน ได้ด าเนิน<br />
งานก่อสร้างแล้วเสร็จในปี 2547 มี<br />
รูปแบบทางสถาปัตยกรรมผสมผสาน<br />
ลักษณะเด่นของศิลปะสถาปัตยกรรม<br />
ไทยนับแต่สมัยสุโขทัยลงมาจวบจนถึง<br />
สมัยกรุงรัตนโกสินทร์ พระมหาธาตุ<br />
องค์นี้นับเป็นหนึ่งในตัวอย่างที่แสดงให้<br />
เห็นถึงพระอัจฉริยภาพทางด้านศิลปะ<br />
สถาปัตยกรรมไทยของพระบาทสมเด็จ<br />
พระปรมินทรมหาภูมิพลอดุลยเดช<br />
โดยในขั้นตอนการออกแบบนั้น<br />
พระองค์ได้ทรงมีพระบรมราชวินิจฉัย<br />
ในการเลือกแบบเจดีย์จากแบบร่างที่<br />
สถาปนิกได้ทูลเกล้าฯ ถวาย และได้<br />
ทรงมีพระบรมราชวินิจฉัยเพิ่มเติม<br />
เป็นลาดับ ตั้งแต่เริ่มการออกแบบ<br />
กระทั่งมีการพัฒนามาเป็นรูปแบบที่<br />
สมบูรณ์เป็นที่พอพระราชหฤหัย<br />
โดยได้พระราชทานลายพระหัตถ์ปรับ<br />
แก้ไขขนาดเรือนธาตุยอดกลางให้มี<br />
ขนาดใหญ่ขึ้น โดยขนาดของเรือนธาตุ<br />
ที่ขยายใหญ่ขึ้นตามพระบรมราช<br />
วินิจฉัยนี้ เมื่อสร้างเป็นองค์จริงแล้วจะ<br />
มีขนาดและสัดส่วนที่งดงามพอดีเมื่อ<br />
มองจากระดับสายตาคนดูโดยทั่วไป<br />
ซึ่งแสดงให้เห็นถึงความเข้าพระทัยที่<br />
ลึกซึ้งในเรื่องของขนาด สัดส่วนทาง<br />
สถาปัตยกรรม และสภาพแวดล้อม<br />

The design and construction<br />
of Phra Mahathat Chalermratcha<br />
Sattha Stupa at Wat Thai Kusinara<br />
Chalermraj, a Thai Monastery<br />
Kusinara Mahaviharn, locating<br />
in the city of Kusinara in Uttar<br />
Pradesh, India had Professor<br />
Wanida Puengsoonthorn as the<br />
architectural consultant. The construction<br />
was completed in 2004<br />
with architectural attributes that<br />
combine distinctive characteristic<br />
of Thai architecture from Sukhothai<br />
till Rattanakosin Era. The stupa is<br />
one of the astounding examples of<br />
King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s genius<br />
in Thai architecture as witnessed<br />
in his creative contribution in the<br />
design process where he personally<br />
selected and critically commented<br />
on the preliminary drawings. Under<br />
his direction and judgment, the<br />
design of the stupa had been developed<br />
and completed. His Majesty<br />
the King’s personal engagement<br />
in the project is reflected from the<br />
way in which he referred to the<br />
stupa as “my chedi” with the architect<br />
as he provided hand-written<br />
comments on the drawing suggesting<br />
that the size of the central<br />
part of the stupa should be made<br />
larger, consequentially resulting in<br />
the perfect physical and visual proportion<br />
and scale of the structure.<br />
The work is another manifestation<br />
of His Majesty the King’s profound<br />
understanding in the details of Thai<br />
architecture and the surrounding<br />
environment and context of the<br />
work.<br />
In remembrance of His Majesty King<br />
Bhumibol Adulyadej, we express our<br />
