HOW CAN

WE HELP?

Donations for Families

FAC is partnering with other local organizations to collect gently-used or new

winter coats, boots, snow pants / snowsuits, gloves, hats, and scarves for kids

of all ages, but especially 8 years through teens. Label for “Briana” and drop

off in the Mustard Seed donation bin at the east entrance of the Deerfoot

Campus. We’re also accepting basic furniture donations to help families in

need. Email Carter Reimer creimer@faccalgary.com to arrange drop-off.

Christmas Ornaments

Supporting Missions

Your purchase of these beautiful handmade ornaments will support the FAC

Missions Fund, which supports global ministries in numerous ways. Sauyunan

Handicrafts are committed to helping families by empowering men and

women to provide for themselves; they provide training, design assistance,

marketing, and life skills development. Order online by December 14; we’ll

contact you when your order is ready for pick-up at FAC Deerfoot.

Operation Christmas Child

Thanks for filling a shoebox to be distributed by Samaritan’s Purse as a

tangible expression of Jesus’ love. Boxes can be dropped off at the Deerfoot

Campus, east entrance only, 11:00 am-7:00 pm until November 20, or this

Saturday, November 21, 12:00-4:00 pm; or at the Southwest Campus

Info Desk this Sunday, November 22, 11:15 am-12:30 pm. Please note:

shoeboxes cannot be accepted after these deadlines. Still want to be part of

the project? There’s no deadline to pack a shoebox online … Pack one here.

Yellow Jacket Initiative

Men of FAC are invited to be part of this Mustard Seed ministry. Teams

will partner with Mustard Seed staff to interact with the marginalized

community of the downtown core, offering practical helps and a connection

to The Mustard Seed. To learn more, contact Pastor Grant Sylvester

gsylvester@faccalgary.com.

Sozo Inner Healing

We were created to have a deep and meaningful relationship with God. Our

Father God longs to speak to each of us in a personal way. And the reality is

that there are many things that have happened in our lives that hinder us

from hearing His voice. November 26-January 28, 7:00 pm.

I Should Give the Church How Much?!?

I

have been attending church

my whole life, though when I

was younger and living at home

the discussion of tithing (giving

God / the church one-tenth of

one’s earnings) never came up.

Once I started my career I was

still not one who tithed. Sure, I

did give to the church – and it

was usually right at the year’s

end, when I would make a

relatively large (or so I thought)

donation to the church – but it

was nowhere near a tithe.

In late 1999 I felt God calling me out of my job in public accounting and

leading me into a ministry position at The Western Canadian District (WCD)

of The Christian and Missionary Alliance. As part of the job I was required

to sign a “staff covenant,” and one of the items that I was signing off on was

that I would be a regular tither to my church. This was a huge step of faith

because my new job resulted in a pay cut of at least 30% – and at the time

my wife and I had 4 kids at home who were all attending Glenmore Christian

Academy. So not only was I going to take home a lot less money, but I was

also being asked to promise that I would give 10% of my gross salary away …

John Siebring has been part of FAC for his entire adult life, joining the staff in the

role of Chief Financial Officer in 2016. Read the rest of his article in this week’s

blog post! Learn more about giving to the ongoing ministries of FAC here!
