Faculty of
The Faculty of Humanities and Social
Sciences is one of the oldest institutions
of higher education in Osijek and the most
comprehensive, for it consists of a variety
of departments offering a wide range of
programs and courses.
The systematic training of teachers in
Osijek began in 1893, when the secondary
Teacher Training School was founded. The
Teacher Training College was founded in
1961. In 1977 the Teacher Training College
developed into the Faculty of Education. In
2003 Faculty of Education changed its title
into The Faculty of Humanities and Social
Sciences.
Many of the staff members and students
are active participants and initiators of
various social and cultural events in the city
of Osijek. A great number of the alumni
are highly respected scientists or artists
prominent in the cultural life of the country.
