BOARD MEMBERS (VOLUNTEER)
Auckland Basketball Services Limited is a registered charity set up to deliver basketball services to
Basketball Auckland, Counties Manukau Basketball and Waitakere West Auckland Basketball.
Basketball is one of the fastest growing sports in the Country and is on the verge of becoming the
largest sport in New Zealand secondary schools. Auckland is at the epicenter of that growth in
basketball. ABSL provides a strong, united voice for our basketball communities. We aspire to be
the leading regional basketball organization in New Zealand, delivering outstanding basketball
experiences for athletes, officials, coaches, and managers while inspiring a vibrant and inclusive
basketball community across greater Auckland.
We respectfully work together to drive strategies that will nurture families and build strong
communities through basketball. We conduct ourselves openly and transparently in a professional
manner with honesty and integrity. We strive to achieve excellence in everything we do, and we
celebrate and protect the high principles of sporting endeavor and fair play.
Our Board structure comprises three Shareholder Directors representing each of the member
associations and four independent Directors. We are now seeking expressions of interest for the
four independent Director roles with skills and experience in one or more of the following areas:
• Human Resources
• Marketing and Public Relations
• Finance
• Diversity
The term of office is three years to a maximum of two terms to allow for succession planning. If you
have a passion for basketball and would bring governance experience and a willingness to work
alongside others in setting and achieving the mission, vision, values, and strategy for basketball in
