THIS SUMMER
The summer holidays are for everyone a period of rest
and carefreeness. But how do we avoid these annoying
2-3 kilos that we gain every year?
Eat small and frequent meals to activate your
metabolism. Prefer seasonal fruits, nuts as well as
fresh vegetables with a yoghurt dip. Make sure you eat
something (snack or meal) every 3-4 hours.
Consume light meals. Salad is a quick meal! Add lean
meat (chicken, turkey, porterhouse) and prefer, also,
fish and seafood.
Drink plenty of water. Don’t wait to be thirsty to drink
water, because then you will already have been 10%
dehydrated.
The tavern is an integral part of the summer program.
So, when it comes to eating out, make sure your
previous meal is light (e.g. salad with a little tuna or
chicken, yoghurt with fruit) and don’t overdo it with
fried, fatty and heavy sauces.
Wine, beer, ouzo, everything comes with the tavern.
Try to drink up to 1-2 glasses of wine. The drink is
defined as 1 can of beer or 1 glass of wine or 1 dose of
a drink, such as whiskey, vodka, ouzo (45ml). But, since
the protagonists of summer are cocktails, let’s talk
in numbers: Mojito 220 kcals, Pina Colada 262 kcals,
Strawberry Daiquiri 180 kcals, Cosmopolitan 250 kcals,
Margarita 190 kcals.
Ice cream is one of the summer delights. Choose sorbets
instead of ice cream with full fat. An alternative version
of them would be the frozen yoghurt, but you had better
avoid whipped cream, syrup, cookies, etc.
As for soft drinks…they are for sure our Achilles’ heel.
They need moderation because they often replace
water. Prefer carbonated water or even soft drinks and
cold tea without sugar.
Summer is the ideal season for walks, swimming and
other activities, so get up from the lounger, try some
water sports, generally move as much as you can. This
way, you will keep your weight stable this summer!
