room after a full and tiring day. Isn’t that a great way
to relax and let go of the day’s care? It may seem like
a trivial thing, but having a tidy, comfortable home
is one of the important elements of well-being. Your
environment should promote a sense of safety and
wholesomeness to give you and your family peace
of mind when you are spending quality time together.
On the other hand, when your living room is filled with
pollutants and harmful toxins, it would feel as though
your family’s well-being is being compromised inside
and out.
Thanks to Young Living’s natural, plant-derived

Did you know?
Indoor air is 2-5 times more polluted than outdoor air. Most
cleaning products contain Volatile Organic Compounds
(VOCs) 2 that have been associated with many health
problems. VOCs are released when we use the products
and they linger in the air long after we finish cleaning.

chemicals in your
cleaning products?
In the US, household
cleaning supplies are
one of the top five
substance classes
accounting for calls
to the National
Poison Control
Center.
Some ingredients
found in cleaners
may be linked to
cancer, reproductive
and developmental
toxicity, allergies,
irritation, and burns
and poisoning. 5
Some conventional
cleaning products
contain ingredients
that are toxic, nonbiodegradable,
and
from non-renewable
resources like
petroleum, so they
harm the earth's
ecosystems.
Many cleaning products, including spray
cleaners and disinfecting wipes, contain
asthmagens — chemicals that can
either worsen asthma or cause asthma
in someone who never previously had
it. Studies show that using traditional
cleaning sprays as rarely as once a week
can increase your risk of developing adultonset
asthma. 4
You may rely heavily on cleaning products that usually come
in various scents to exude a fresh, clean feeling for your home.
The truth is many commercial cleaning products contain
harmful chemicals that could result in immediate reactions
due to direct exposure when combined with indoor air.
Did you know that in the US, cleaning products aren’t
regulated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA)?
It’s true! The companies that manufacture cleaning products
are held to no safety standard and no requirement for listing
ingredients. However, in 1976, the Toxic Substance Control Act
was administered which created comprehensive controls over
toxic substances. Still, there are thousands of chemicals in
cleaning products that have never been tested for safety. All
these chemicals could be lingering in your cleaning products,
and you’ll never even know it.

in blood, urine, and breast milk,
as well as in the umbilical cord

CARPET SPOT CLEANER
Combine ingredients and store
in a glass spray bottle.
1½ cups water
¼ cap Thieves Cleaner
Directions: Spray spot with solution and blot
with a clean, white cloth. Repeat as needed.
FLOOR CLEANER
Combine ingredients in a bucket or container
that is large enough to fit your mop.
10 drops Lemon essential oil
1 cap Thieves Cleaner
3 litres of water
½ cup of olive oil (for wooden floor only)
Directions: Use a damp (not wet) mop to clean
the floor thoroughly.
Important!
Before using Thieves Cleaner,
do a small spot test on an inconspicuous
location, especially on wood, plastic,
fabric, and granite. Do not use this
product on soft plastics or vinyl.
3. COUCH/SOFA CLEANER
(Suitable for fabric couch/sofa)
1 cap Thieves Cleaner
1-2 cups baking soda
Directions:
1. Combine ingredients and mix well.
2. Let sit for 24 hours to thoroughly combine.
3. Add 5 drops of Lemon essential oil for an
extra boost of freshness.
4. Sprinkle lightly over furniture and wait 1 hour.
5. Use a stiff brush and back-and-forth motions
to work the cleaner into the fabric then
vacuum the excess.
YL tip: You can also use this technique on car
upholstery, mattresses, carpets, and rugs.

Combine ingredients and store
in a glass spray bottle.

2-3 drops Lemon essential oil
½ teaspoon white vinegar
½ cap Thieves Cleaner
Directions: Spray surface liberally
and wipe clean with a lint-free cloth.

Combine ingredients in a 10ml
roll-on bottle.

½ teaspoon Thieves Dish Soap
2-3 drops Lemon essential oil
Directions: Shake well and apply
to stains. Let it soak for about half
an hour before proceeding to wash.
Make sure to do a patch test on
delicate or colored clothes.

spraying on car upholstery, mattresses,
carpets, and rugs.

Directions: Wipe evenly on sink and
counter with a damp cloth. If sink and
counter have heavy buildup, extra
scrubbing may be required.

BATHROOM
1. BATHTUB/SINK CLEANER
Combine ingredients in a bowl.
½ cup baking soda
5 tablespoons liquid castile soap
½ cap Thieves Cleaner
3 drops Lemon essential oil
Directions: Apply on surface, wipe
with a damp cloth or brush and
scrub away.

TOILET FIZZIES
1 cup baking soda
½ cup citric acid
½ cup cornstarch
3 teaspoons water
1 teaspoon Thieves Cleaner
40 drops Lemon essential oil
or Thieves essential oil blend
3 teaspoons V-6 Enhanced
Vegetable Oil Complex
Ice cube tray or candy mold
Directions:
1. In a large bowl, combine all dry ingredients and mix evenly.
2. In a separate bowl, combine water, essential oils, and V-6.
3. Pour liquid into the large bowl containing dry ingredients and
whisk together until combined.
4. Use mixture to fill ice cube tray or candy mold to about three
quarters full only as the mixture may fizz and expand.
5. Let sit overnight to dry in room temperature. When dry, pop
tablets out and store in a glass jar.
6. When needed, put a tablet in the toilet bowl, hard-to-clean
bottles, or sink full of dishes to help clean and deodorize. Let
tablet sit in the bowl, bottle, or sink for 20-30 minutes to fizz
and dissolve. Once dissolved, flush or rinse out.
