Short Introduction
Forum for Research in Mathematics Education decided in January 2003 to
produce a bibliography of Danish literature on mathematics education. ”Danish”
means that the authors were born or live in Denmark. The titles are mainly in
Danish or English, but you may also find texts in Chinese, Japanese, French,
German, Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish and Swedish. It is characteristic of the
Danish research in mathematics education that it was internationally orientated
right from the beginning.
The bibliography contains publications from the period 1965 to 2003, in
total more than 700 titles. The list is produced primarily on the basis of contributions
from the authors.
Literature on mathematics education in this bibliography includes publications
on real or potential aspects of mathematics teaching and learning based on
research and/or systematic experimental and developmental work. This includes
scientific articles from journals and anthologies; scientific theses and monographs;
textbooks from teacher education; proceedings; papers in proceedings;
reports from research based experimental and developmental work; and newspaper
features. Furthermore, we have produced a list of national mathematics
curricula, governmental guidelines, reports etc. All these publications are
accessible to the public.
The readers and users of this bibliography should keep the following in
mind. The bibliography does not include texts on general didactics, pedagogy,
philosophy, mathematics etc. written by the Danish researchers in mathematics
education. Furthermore, apart from the deliberately skipped titles, we might have
omitted some.
