Son muy importantes el diagnóstico y tratamiento tempranos<br />
para los individuos con <strong>Gaucher</strong>. No obstante, se desconoce<br />
mucho de la enfermedad, y muchas personas sufren meses y<br />
años sin ser diagnosticadas correctamente antes de recibir un<br />
diagnóstico definitivo que lo que tienen es <strong>Gaucher</strong>. Se puede<br />
hacer un diagnóstico definitivo con una prueba de sangre<br />
que mida la actividad de las enzimas glucocerebrosidases. El<br />
diagnóstico podrá llevar mucho tiempo porque las señales<br />
y los síntomas de <strong>Gaucher</strong> se manifiestan también en otros<br />
trastornos:<br />
• Leucemia o linfoma<br />
• Mieloma múltiple<br />
• Púrpura trombocetopénica idiopática (PTI)<br />
• Enfermedad Neimann-Pick<br />
