INTRODUCCIÓN<br />

La efici<strong>en</strong>cia y calidad <strong>de</strong> los cuidados y servicios<br />

prestados <strong>en</strong> un sistema sanitario corre<strong>la</strong>ciona<br />

directam<strong>en</strong>te <strong>con</strong> el nivel <strong>de</strong> <strong>satisfacción</strong> <strong>de</strong> los profesionales<br />

que <strong>en</strong> él trabajan, y se pone <strong>de</strong> manifiesto que<br />

<strong>la</strong> in<strong>satisfacción</strong> <strong>de</strong> los mismos es <strong>la</strong> principal dificultad<br />

a <strong>la</strong> que ti<strong>en</strong><strong>en</strong> que <strong>en</strong>fr<strong>en</strong>tarse <strong>la</strong> cúpu<strong>la</strong> directiva y los<br />

gestores <strong>de</strong> c<strong>en</strong>tros sanitarios (1, 2).<br />

Objective: to analyze the <strong>de</strong>gree of job satisfaction of staff nurses working in a medical and surgical hospital,<br />

and to establish the socio-<strong>de</strong>mographics and professional factors re<strong>la</strong>ted to their job satisfaction. Methodology:<br />

cross-sectional and performed on sev<strong>en</strong>ty five persons of the nursing staff of the medical and surgery hospital<br />

(total: 510) of Ciudad Sanitaria Virg<strong>en</strong> <strong>de</strong> <strong>la</strong>s Nieves of Granada (Spain), by means of a self-administered and<br />

anonymous survey. The questionnaire has two parts: the first one is Font-Roja test (it measures the job satisfaction)<br />

and the se<strong>con</strong>d one are the socio-<strong>de</strong>mographic and <strong>la</strong>bor variables. Results: the average age of the staff<br />

who answered the survey was 42.9 years; 72% wom<strong>en</strong>, married 64.9%; perman<strong>en</strong>t staff; 58.7% hospitalization<br />

staff and a 67.6% have rotating turns. The Font-Roja <strong>de</strong>gree of global satisfaction was medium (69.92 ± 10.48),<br />

range from 24 to 120. The best valued dim<strong>en</strong>sion is “interpersonal re<strong>la</strong>tion with the workmate” (3.82 ± 0.86)<br />

and the worse one is “professional promotion” (2.28 ± 0.75). The work p<strong>la</strong>ce is a predicting elem<strong>en</strong>t of the job<br />

satisfaction (ß=-0,297, p=0,018). Analysis and discussion: a work p<strong>la</strong>ce guaranteeing more job satisfaction for<br />

the nursing staff would improve the quality of care received by the pati<strong>en</strong>ts of this type of personnel.<br />

Los expertos opinan que <strong>la</strong> in<strong>satisfacción</strong> <strong>de</strong> los profesionales<br />

se <strong>de</strong>be a factores tales como: escasa autonomía,<br />

falta <strong>de</strong> re<strong>con</strong>ocimi<strong>en</strong>to profesional, autoridad extrema,<br />

pocas posibilida<strong>de</strong>s <strong>de</strong> promoción y formación, t<strong>en</strong>sión <strong>en</strong><br />

<strong>la</strong>s re<strong>la</strong>ciones interpersonales, tareas rutinarias o sa<strong>la</strong>rios<br />

ina<strong>de</strong>cuados, <strong>en</strong>tre otros (3).<br />

La in<strong>satisfacción</strong> <strong>la</strong>boral es, junto <strong>con</strong> el síndrome <strong>de</strong>l<br />

<strong>de</strong>sgaste profesional, un riesgo profesional muy ext<strong>en</strong>dido<br />

<strong>en</strong>tre el personal que presta sus servicios <strong>en</strong> <strong>la</strong>s instituciones<br />

públicas y privadas <strong>de</strong> salud, don<strong>de</strong> guardaría una estrecha<br />

re<strong>la</strong>ción <strong>con</strong> <strong>la</strong>s <strong>con</strong>diciones <strong>de</strong> trabajo (2, 4-6). Mi<strong>en</strong>tras<br />

que <strong>la</strong> <strong>satisfacción</strong> <strong>la</strong>boral respon<strong>de</strong> a un estado emocional<br />

positivo resultante <strong>de</strong> <strong>la</strong> percepción <strong>de</strong> <strong>la</strong>s experi<strong>en</strong>cias<br />

<strong>la</strong>borales y es, por tanto, un factor importante que <strong>con</strong>diciona<br />

<strong>la</strong> actitud <strong>de</strong>l individuo respecto a su trabajo, exist<strong>en</strong><br />

factores organizacionales y funcionales que pue<strong>de</strong>n ser los<br />

que g<strong>en</strong>er<strong>en</strong> in<strong>satisfacción</strong> <strong>en</strong> el personal <strong>de</strong> <strong><strong>en</strong>fermería</strong>.<br />

La <strong>satisfacción</strong> <strong>la</strong>boral se <strong>con</strong>c<strong>en</strong>tra, pues, <strong>en</strong> una<br />

percepción subjetiva e individual, <strong>en</strong> una valoración afectiva<br />

<strong>de</strong> <strong>la</strong>s personas <strong>de</strong> una organización fr<strong>en</strong>te a su trabajo<br />

y a <strong>la</strong>s <strong>con</strong>secu<strong>en</strong>cias que se <strong>de</strong>rivan <strong>de</strong> éste (7).<br />
