• Soil resistivity in the vicinity of ground electro<strong>de</strong>s<br />

may be affected by current flowing from the<br />

electro<strong>de</strong>s into the surrounding soil. The thermal<br />

characteristics and the moisture content of the<br />

soil will <strong>de</strong>termine if a current of a given<br />

magnitu<strong>de</strong> and duration will cause significant<br />

drying and thus increase the effective soil<br />

resistivity. A conservative value of current<br />

<strong>de</strong>nsity, as given by Armstrong [B4], is not to<br />

exceed 200 A/m2 for 1 s.<br />
