CAILEY LINDBERG PAULI LOVEJOY BRINGS US SOCIAL JUSTICE ON "GIVE ME A SIGN" 01.04.2015 NYC and London based drummer Pauli Lovejoy whose creds include tours with Damon Albarn and Kindness proves himself to be a wordsmith in his own right on the premiere track "Give Me A Sign." This one is very of the moment, as it focuses on the Ferguson noindictment decision and the resulting outrage. The vocal chants of "No justice, no peace," which were pulled directly from the protests are equal parts angry and sad, but isn't sadness the root of anger On it Lovejoy singraps about the basic human desire to incite change and that need to reach out to our fellow man, but waiting for that right moment. Produced by up and coming new kid on the block Heavy x Mellow, this one expresses social justice in a altogether smooth and sloweddown manner with artful samples and a good dose of sultry soul. Dedicated to more memories than one i.e. Mike Brown, Eric Garner, Rafael Ramos, and Wenjian Liu the track is a precursor to his currently untitled debut EP to be released later this year. http://soundcloud.com/paulilovejoy/gmas CAILEY LINDBERG SNOWPOET GIVES US SPOKEN WORD ON NEW 'BUTTERFLY' EP 01.04.2015 London based duo Snowpoet have released their debut EP Butterfly, and it is a blast of pure poetry in a beatdominated industry. What Butterfly lacks in length it makes up for in the quality of each track, which are all soft combinations of ambient altfolk and spoken word reminiscent of the original 90's genre goddess Bjork. Also like Bjork, there is an element of freeflowing jazz music to their compositions. If nothing else, the group members vocalist Lauren Kinsella and bassist Chris Hyson are down to the roots songwriters who can actually play a live set. And the musical intelligence behind Butterfly is clear the entire time that the EP flutters it's wings, as it is entirely understandable why Snowpoet would draw comparisons to one of the great alternative innovators. Opener "Always" is by far the most poetic track on the EP and has some very jazzy elements in the piano and drum composition. JAMES ELLIOTT A$AP ROCKY RETURNS WITH "LORD PRETTY FLACKO JODYE 2 (PFJII)" 01.03.2015 Since releasing his debut album in January 2013, A$AP Rocky has taken his talents behind the scenes, helping foster a stronger A$AP Mob. While his crew member, A$AP Ferg, has seen his stock rise with every new single and project, the world has still been waiting to see what Flacko would do next. Even without dropping a ton of music, which feels like the standard order of business nowadays, he has been able to maintain a high level of excitement for his future moves; fans wait to see where he goes next and how. Rocky has finally returned with a brand new track that incorporates everything that listeners have grown to love about him. "Lord Pretty Flacko Jodye 2 (PFJII) is a braggadocios, syrupy anthem. A$AP's leader has always been known for his impeccable flow and effortless rhymes, which make a strong impression on this track.
