4Mensaje del Prior ProvincialABRILJUNIOMessage to All Brothers of the ProvinceDEAR BROTHERS,Receive my greeting and gratitude in these daysthat in some places we are going to start adeserved summer rest, a time to renewspiritually and physically in order to assume theactivities and responsibilities in our daily work.Besides, we are going to celebrate the 146 thProvincial Ordinary Chapter where we willapprove a new Provincial Program for allCircumscriptions of the Province and also dothe usual constitutional replacements.In the last months and at the same time withthe preparation of the Ordinary ProvincialChapter two significant events have takenplace. We are going to leave two parishes ofthe Diocese of Estelí (Nicaragua), in the town ofOcotal, the parishes of Our Lady of Asunciónand of Saint Augustine, administered duringtwenty three years by our Augustinian brothersof the Delegation Our Lady of Peace in CentralAmerica. We have also already begun a newmission in the diocese of Saint Pedro Sula(Honduras) in the town of Cofradia, the parishOur Lady of Carmen.On one side, we are going to transfer theadministration of two parishes to the secularpriests, after a flourishing evangelical task,based on the celebration of the Word andSacrament, carrying out the service of charityto the social and helping commitment andstressing the bases of a more committedapostolate in the evangelical and Augustinianway. On the other side, we are going to take ona new field of evangelization in a needy place,trying to apply our pastoral commitment inorder to revitalize the pastoral action with thehumanitarian implications for the Gospel tospread day after day among the poor people,through the ecclesial and Augustiniancommitment.Through this message I want to give thankssincerely in the Name of the Province to thebrothers who have dedicated their best dreamsand works to the parishes of Asuncion and St.Augustine in the Diocese of Estelí at Ocotal. Ijoin the good people of Ocotal, who are thequalified witnesses of the disinterested pastoralwork carried out by our brothers, in their wordsof gratitude. I want also to give thanks to thediocese of Esteli that offered us the opportunityto give the best that we have as followers ofJesus: the service of a gratuitous love.At the same time, I invoke the assistance of theSpirit of the Risen Lord for our Augustinianbrothers, pioneers of the mission in the parishOur Lady of Carmen in Cofradia of Honduras, sothat through their ministry the faith of theHonduran People is strengthened. May ourAugustinian brothers continue the footsteps ofall the numerous missionaries of theAugustinian Province of the Philippines presentin many latitudes.May the example of St. John of Sahagun whoconsecrated himself totally to the preachingand promotion of peace and socialunderstanding, defending always the rights ofthe workers and poor people serve as aninspiration in our pastoral activities in thedifferent places which the Lord, the Church andthe Order have entrusted to us.Fraternally,Madrid, 12 th June 2010.San Juan de Sahagún.
