Superficie de Plantaciones Forestales

RESUMENEl Instituto Forestal (INFOR) por encargo del Ministerio de Agricultura actualizaanualmente la superficie de plantaciones forestales existente en el país. Estetrabajo incluye las Regiones de Coquimbo a Aysén que son aquellas donde estánubicadas las plantaciones comerciales, constituidas muy mayoritariamente porpinos y eucaliptos.Las regiones extremas del norte y del sur disponen de ciertas superficies menoresde plantaciones, de menor valor comercial, constituidas por tamarugos, algarrobosy otras especies en la zona norte y por algunas coníferas en la zona sur.Gracias a un convenio con las principales empresas forestales, en virtud del cualestas proporcionan la información correspondiente a sus propias plantaciones,INFOR puede concentrar sus esfuerzos en aquellas pertenecientes a pequeños ymedianos propietarios.El presente Informe Técnico entrega la información total para el área de estudio ydesagregada según principales especies, división administrativa del país y tipo depropietarios.Esta actualización arroja a diciembre del año 2006 una superficie total de 2.192 Mha, compuesta en un 92% por plantaciones de pinos y eucaliptos y en un 60% porplantaciones pertenecientes a las empresas.SUMMARYThe Forest Institute undertheAgriculture Ministry supportyearly makes an update ofthe planted forest area in the country. The work includes from the Coquimbo Regionin the north to the Aysen Region in the south, where the commercial plantations arelocated. Planted forests are composed largely by pines and eucalypts.Extreme regions on the northern and southern parts of the country also have someplantations, but of lesser commercial value and composed mainly by species likealgarrobos and tamarugos (Prosopis genus) on the north and some conifers on thesouth.Under an agreement with the main private forest companies, their information onplantations is directly obtained, so main INFOR's efforts are focused on the smalland medium owner plantations.The present technical report provides the total planted area on the slUdy regionsand also a break down by regions, counties, species and owners size.The results show a total planted forestarea of 2,192 thousand hectares, 92% ofwichare pines and eucalypts and 60% are a property of the main forest companies.SUPERFICIE DE PLANTACIONES FORESTALES I REGIONES DE COQUIMBO A AY$I:N
