Attachment 1 to Appendix ARASG-PA ESC/8 - WP/018.1 Mr. Alberto Cortes, ALTA, briefed the ESC on the status of the current planning activities forthe Aviation Safety Summit to be held in Mexico City the week of 13-17 June. He informed the ESC that thesummit website is up and running and a press release had been prepared and published. An e-blast will also besent to previous participants of last year’s summit.8.2 The hotel will be the Maria Isabel Sheraton, Mexico City. ALTA is currently looking forsponsors to host summit events. ALTA has negotiated space for approximately 300 participants. In addition,space for training has been obtained for the Monday and Tuesday prior to the actual summit agenda.<strong>Agenda</strong> Item 9:ASIAS Feasibility Study9.1 The ESC was reminded that during the January ESC teleconference it was agreed to hold aseparate teleconference to discuss obtaining ASIAS data. As a result, two ASIAS teleconferences were heldduring January. The first teleconference was held on 14 January, and the second on 27 January.9.2 During the first teleconference the scope of the task was identified by the participants. It wasdecided to call this first step the “ASIAS Feasibility Study.” The participants decided that the first steps would beto identify which airports, and what “data”, would be requested from the ASIAS group. The participants agreedto select two airports and request data on unstabilized approaches.9.4 During the second teleconference, Ms. Robyn LaPorte, FAA, was selected as rapporteur, toguide the work of the team. As a result of input from the participants, the following model airports were chosento request data: Juan Santamaria International airport, San Jose, Costa Rica (SJO); Guarulhos InternationalAirport, Sao Paolo, Brazil, (GRU Airport), and Benito Juarez International Airport, Mexico City, Mexico(MEX). After the minutes of the meeting were distributed, Mr. Carlos Pellegrino, RASG-PA ESC Vice-Chairperson, requested that the team consider replacing Sao Paolo (GRU) with Rio de Janeiro-GaleãoInternational Airport (GIG Airport) due to the participation of three airlines in a GSI/12 initiative, which wouldprovide more readily available data for Galeão (GIG - SBGL). The team supported this request and replacedGRU airport with GIG airport.9.5 Ms. LaPorte will draft a letter with input received from the team and will forward to ESC forcomments and approval. Ms. LaPorte indicated that once approved, the request should go to the ComercialAviation Safety Team (CAST) which is meeting in early April. A third teleconference was scheduled for 3March to review draft letter prior to submitting to ESC.<strong>Agenda</strong> Item 10:State Ratification of RASG-PA Industry Co-Chair10.1 The ESC was advised that it was necessary to ratify the RASG-PA Industry Co-Chair since theelection had occurred after the full meeting of the RASG-PA members.10.2 The ESC discussed several ways to move forward on this issue but it was agreed that it mayneed more discussion during the meeting in Lima because of the importance and the fact that quorum was not metin order to have a binding agreement within the ESC. The issue will be placed as an agenda item for the Limameeting.<strong>Agenda</strong> Item 11:RASG-PA Newsletter11.1 The RASG-PA quarterly newsletter has been completed and is in the process of being translated.It will be uploaded to the RASG-PA webpage within the next several weeks.<strong>Agenda</strong> Item 12:Updated RASG-PA Activities Schedule
