During the last International Tourism Fair FITUR, the
president of the Provincial Council and Costa del Sol
Tourism, Francisco Salado, stressed that music festivals
"are important sources of attraction for tourists to our
province and contribute to the generation of wealth in all
areas".
The Malaga Festival was the starting signal for what
promises to be a great season. It is essential to take into
account the proliferation and success of festivals,
concerts and musical events that we will be able to enjoy
over the coming months. The best of each house has its
day marked on the calendar.
Starlite Occident Marbella is one of the best boutique
festivals in the world. After twelve editions it can be
considered the longest running with more than 60 days of
concerts per season.
Music, culture and gastronomy coexist in the Starlite
space. A unique event for those who want to enjoy close
and intimate concerts in an incomparable place. Its
programme includes options for all audiences, ages and
musical tastes.
Its uniqueness lies in the place where it is held: a quarry
on the hillside of La Concha, between rock walls over 60
metres high, which provides perfect acoustics worthy of
such prodigious voices as those of Plácido Domingo, Julio
Iglesias and Sting, among others. This summer's season
will open in June. Attendees will be able to enjoy
performances as genuine as Jamie Cullum, Simple Minds,
Take That or Hombres G, among other national and
international artists.
A few kilometres away we find the Marenostrum
Fuengirola concert series, which this year celebrates its
ninth edition. It is a space where culture and music merge
to offer the public a unique experience on the shores of
the Mediterranean Sea and sheltered by the Sohail
Castle. This venue has hosted such outstanding artists as
Jennifer López, Ricky Martin, Robbie Williams and Nicky
Jam among others.
This venue has managed to establish itself as a national
reference for holding concerts, receiving performances
that only take place in the large venues of Madrid or
Barcelona.
Other musical events not to be missed are the Galaxy
Sound Malaga, in mid-May, with the participation of more
than fifteen national artists. And the 101 Music Festival
Costa del Sol, an event that takes place throughout the
summer in Malaga's bullring, making the capital a
reference point for live music.
Reggaeton Beach Festival, at the beginning of July;
Brisa Festival Malaga, which returns to the Port of
Malaga for its 4th edition at the end of July. We highlight
others such as Oasisis Marbella Fest and Bella Festival
Marbella which, together with Ojeando, which takes
place at the end of June in the municipality of Ojén, the
Puro Latino Fest Torremolinos and Canela Party, add
to the wide range of concerts on offer until the end of
August.
