“A Summer To Remember”
Editor James Wheeler gives his take on a
summer that will live long in both his and
many others memories.

2018 will be a summer that will live long
in my memory, as I am sure it will with
many other members of our great club.
I joined the previous summer, but due
to injuries and the awful weather, 2017
is easily forgettable. This year is
anything but, I have loved every
minute both on and off the field.

could easily have opted for a weekend
off. Geoff ‘Athlete’ Cox who has been
suffering with a back injury all summer,
made himself available and captained
the Sunday team at short notice to
prevent the game against Kempton
being cancelled the night before.
As some of you may know, I am lucky
enough to work in the media covering
football. This season as well as working
on the Premier League, I have been
assigned to my company’s coverage of
Wales’ international games. The # which
the Welsh FA use for their social media
coverage is #TogetherStronger. This
message is something I have witnessed
throughout the summer as the club is
definitely ‘Together Stronger’.
I am sure the success we have achieved
this summer with three promotions and
the First Team finishing comfortable in
midtable has been down to this attitude
from players and members alike.
As a fairly new member, this attitude
has been evident to me throughout the
club. On the field this club is dominated
by players who don’t give up and give
100%. These players, along with a
sprinkling of superstars is the reason
that we achieved so much success with
three promotions on Saturdays, a
League title in their debut season and a
county title for our Under 10s.
2019 has a challenge on its hands to
match this year, however I seen no
reason that our on and off field targets
can’t be matched if this year’s mantra
remains in place with all of us.
There have been some great examples
of the club being together this summer.
