lavishly coloured : beautyfull engraved title with the weapons of the XVII Provinces and
people in local costumes (heightened in gold), a history plate and 24 maps on double
pages with decorative cartouches and miniaturised town views. For this second edition the
text has been entirely reset, map 10 “Flandriae pars orientalior” has been replaced by the
“Caerte van t’Vrije” by C.J. Visscher while the map “Typus Frisiae orientalis”, now with text
on the back, has been bound at the end of the volume.
Contains the famous Leo Belgicus in its second state of the lion rampant facing right by
Henricus van Langren which Kaerius already inserted in the 1617 edition. Moreover, in the
reverse text Kaerius acknowledges the adaption of the lion from Von Aitzing.

principal responsable de l’agitation qui devait mener à la révolution. Il ne croyait cependant
