The Henk Savelberg Collection of Fine and Rare Wines
Multiple winner of the Wine Spectator Grand Award
Henk Savelberg, now 63, got interested in
wine and food back in the early seventies.
At the age of 20 he started working in the
restaurant business collecting wines. In
1983 he received his first Michelin star at
restaurant De Graaf van het Hoogeveen.
After that he was awarded a Michelin star in
every restaurant he worked. After an
extensive reconstruction he started in 1989
his own restaurant Vreugd en Rust in
Voorburg. The cellars of this famous Dutch
Restaurant and Hotel “Savelberg” (Vreugd
en Rust) near The Hague was several times
awarded by Wine Spectator with the Grand
Award. This is the highest award, given to
restaurants that show an
uncompromising,
passionate devotion to
the quality of their wine
programs. These wine
lists typically feature
1,000 or more selections, and deliver
serious breadth of top producers,
outstanding depth in mature vintages, a
selection of large-format bottles, excellent
harmony with the menu, and superior
presentation. These restaurants offer the
highest level of wine service. The restaurant
of Henk Savelberg, Dutch Master Chef
(equivalent to Meilleur Ouvrier de France)
was third time Wedgwood Fine Dining
Award winner and member of Relais &
Chateau and he is awarded by Michelin
since 1982. Savelberg recently sold his fine
dining restaurant to former employee and
friend, Culinary Entrepreneur Carsten Klint.
He made a grand transformation of the
restaurant and hotel and started ‘”Central
Park by Ron Blaauw”, a new concept with
the famous Dutch Michelin-starred chef Ron
Blaauw. Winefield’s Auctioneers in now
offering a part of this famous collection.
