2007 Cesa Publications on African Lepidoptera nr.21 <strong>Report</strong> on the Temporary Evaluations on the Lepidoptera of Some African States Described by the Various Lepidopterists based upon the Databank of the Cesa I – Democratic Republic of Congo (Zaire) Ahmet Ömer Koçak Muhabbet Kemal 1 Abstract: <strong>Report</strong> on the Temporary Evaluations on the Lepidoptera of Some African States Described by the Various Lepidopterists based upon the Databank of the Cesa I – Democratic Republic of Congo (Zaire) Cesa Publ. on African Lepid. 21: 1-59, 10 Tables. This scientific report is based upon the information of databank of the Cesa on the World Lepidoptera. The temporary evaluations of the 41 authors of 9 western states, described totally 3352 Lepidopteran taxa at specific level, occuring Democratic Republic of Congo (Zaire) are reported herewith for the first time in the Lepidopterology. Within the frame of the Cesa Project 2 , entitled Diversity of the Lepidoptera in the World (DLW) and Lepidoptera of Africa (LAF) 3 , synonymous list of the species and subspecies, recorded in Democratic Republic of Congo (Zaire), has been previously published by the authors as temporary report of the Cesa (stand 18.7.2007). 4 In this report, totally 2683 valid species and subspecies were listed with their synonyms under the various families. In the present temporary report, this number has increased to 3182 (2096 species only). Besides, the synonymous and valid names have been updated by the authors. The present synonymous list, based upon the databank of the Cesa, is given at the end of this report. The selected authors of the Lepidoptera, recorded in Democratic Republic of Congo (Zaire), according to the present information of the Cesa, are mentioned herewith and evaluated for the first time in the Lepidopterology (Table 1-9). 1 Prof. Dr. Ahmet Ömer Koçak, Asst. 2007 Cesa Publications on African Lepidoptera nr.21 In Table 1, the lepidoptera species and subspecies found in Zaire described by 14 British lepidopterists are given. Among 1569 scientific names, 1017 names are currently valid, while 552 proposed names are invalid. Rates of successes of the authors varies from 35.82 to 100. The average rate is 64.81. Among 532 scientific names, 280 names are currently valid, while 251 proposed names are invalid. Rates of successes of the authors varies from 17.30 to 94.28. The average rate is 53.63. Among 291 scientific names, 176 names are currently valid, while 125 proposed names are invalid. Rates of successes of the authors varies from 41.28 to 100. The average rate is 60.48.
