UVA ARILLA<br />

E’ un vitigno acclimatato<br />

da epoca remota nell’isola<br />

verde. Si è propagato<br />

soprattutto nel versante sud<br />

e sud-ovest .E’ menzionato<br />

nella “Storia dell’isola<br />

d’<strong>Ischia</strong>”, dallo storico<br />

Giuseppe d’Ascia (1867).<br />

Probabilmente proviene dalla<br />

Sicilia. E’ caratterizzante la<br />

forma ovoide della bacca<br />

e la presenza di vinaccioli<br />

di dimensioni notevoli in<br />

rapporto alla polpa.<br />

GUARNACCIA<br />

Non si conoscono le origini<br />

del vitigno, ma si suppone<br />

provenga dalla Sicilia. Ha<br />

foglia m<strong>ed</strong>ia, pentagonale<br />

talvolta orbicolare, trilobata<br />

- grappolo m<strong>ed</strong>io, conico<br />

allungato, può avere un’ala;<br />

m<strong>ed</strong>iamente compatto -<br />

acino m<strong>ed</strong>io, sub-sferico,<br />

buccia pruinosa, di colore<br />

nero. Succo colorato di<br />

sapore dolcissimo.<br />

FORASTERA<br />

Il vitigno è stato introdotto<br />

nell’Isola di <strong>Ischia</strong> verso<br />

la metà del 1800. La<br />

denominazione Forastera<br />

indicherebbe proprio<br />

l’introduzione sull’isola<br />

di una varietà forestiera.<br />

Taste: dry, m<strong>ed</strong>ium-bodi<strong>ed</strong>, tannic.<br />

Food match: grill<strong>ed</strong> or roast<strong>ed</strong> r<strong>ed</strong> meats,<br />

mature cheeses.<br />

The typical grapes<br />

ARILLA GRAPE<br />

It is a vine acclimat<strong>ed</strong> in ancient times on the<br />

green island. It is spread mainly towards the<br />

south and south-west. It is mention<strong>ed</strong> in the<br />

“History of the island of <strong>Ischia</strong>”, by historian<br />

Giuseppe D’Ascia (1867). Probably it comes<br />

from Sicily. The wine is characteristic<br />

for its ovoid shape of the berry and the<br />

presence of<br />

very large grape-stones in relation to<br />

the pulp.<br />

GUARNACCIA<br />

The origins of the grape are unknown,<br />

maybe it comes from Sicily. It has<br />

m<strong>ed</strong>ium leaf, pentagonal sometimes<br />

orbicular, three-lob<strong>ed</strong> - cluster<br />

m<strong>ed</strong>ium, elongat<strong>ed</strong> conical, can have<br />

a wing; average compact - m<strong>ed</strong>ium<br />

berry, sub-spherical and black. Color<strong>ed</strong><br />

juice of sweet taste.<br />

FORASTERA<br />

The vine was introduc<strong>ed</strong> to the island<br />

of <strong>Ischia</strong> in the mid-1800’s. The name<br />

Forastera indicates precisely the<br />

introduction of a ‘foreign’ variety on the<br />

island. It has large leaves, nearly orbicular,<br />

penta or three-lob<strong>ed</strong>, m<strong>ed</strong>ium bunch,
