INTRODUCTION<br />

<strong>Czech</strong> <strong>Mycology</strong>, established <strong>in</strong> 1947 as Česká Mykologie <strong>and</strong> <strong>published</strong> by the<br />

<strong>Czech</strong> (formerly <strong>Czech</strong>oslovak) Scientific Society for <strong>Mycology</strong>, is the most important<br />

peer-reviewed mycological journal <strong>in</strong> the <strong>Czech</strong> Republic (formerly <strong>Czech</strong>oslovakia).<br />

It conta<strong>in</strong>s papers from all aspects of mycology, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g taxonomy, diversity,<br />

ecology, physiology, <strong>and</strong> phy<strong>to</strong>pathology, as well as mycological <strong>to</strong>pics <strong>in</strong> forestry,<br />

agriculture <strong>and</strong> medic<strong>in</strong>e. A significant number of papers on lichens have<br />

been <strong>published</strong> as well, although the journal is not primarily a lichenological one.<br />

Current volumes are <strong>published</strong> <strong>in</strong> English (rarely <strong>in</strong> German <strong>and</strong> French). In the<br />

past, <strong>Czech</strong>, Lat<strong>in</strong> <strong>and</strong> Russian were also used, but papers usually <strong>in</strong>cluded summaries<br />

<strong>in</strong> English or German. Geographically, the journal mostly covers the area of the<br />

<strong>Czech</strong> Republic <strong>and</strong> Slovakia, <strong>and</strong> neighbour<strong>in</strong>g countries of Central Europe (especially<br />

Pol<strong>and</strong>, Hungary, east part of Germany <strong>and</strong> Ukra<strong>in</strong>e). However, <strong>fungal</strong> collections<br />

from almost all parts of Europe are <strong>in</strong>cluded (especially from the Balkans,<br />

Sc<strong>and</strong><strong>in</strong>avia <strong>and</strong> Russia) as well as material from other cont<strong>in</strong>ents (e.g. Asia: Russia,<br />

Ch<strong>in</strong>a; North America; the Caribbean: Cuba; central Africa) except for the Antarctic.<br />

All lead<strong>in</strong>g <strong>Czech</strong> <strong>and</strong> Slovak mycologists have <strong>published</strong> <strong>in</strong> <strong>Czech</strong> <strong>Mycology</strong>/Česká<br />

Mykologie. Due <strong>to</strong> the <strong>in</strong>creas<strong>in</strong>gly <strong>in</strong>ternational character of the journal,<br />

the list of non-<strong>Czech</strong>oslovak authors has grown as well, especially s<strong>in</strong>ce Vol. 47,<br />

when only papers <strong>in</strong> world languages were accepted. For a list of authors <strong>and</strong> their<br />

papers <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g abstracts (plus full-text PDF repr<strong>in</strong>ts s<strong>in</strong>ce Vol. 58), see the journal<br />

content at www.czechmycology.org. The accessibility of current volumes has been<br />

<strong>in</strong>creased by <strong>in</strong>troduction of an on-l<strong>in</strong>e version (s<strong>in</strong>ce Vol. 64).<br />

A complete <strong>in</strong>dex <strong>to</strong> names/papers of Mykologia, an older scientific mycological<br />

journal <strong>published</strong> <strong>in</strong> former <strong>Czech</strong>oslovakia (not <strong>to</strong> be confused with the<br />

American journal Mycologia!) was <strong>published</strong> by Hlůza (1999).<br />

The preced<strong>in</strong>g paragraphs show the richness <strong>and</strong> broadness of mycological data<br />

conta<strong>in</strong>ed <strong>in</strong> 64 volumes of <strong>Czech</strong> <strong>Mycology</strong>/Česká Mykologie. The aim of this <strong>in</strong>dex<br />

is <strong>to</strong> make its content more easily accessible <strong>to</strong> the mycological community. The<br />

pr<strong>in</strong>ted <strong>in</strong>dex will be followed by its on-l<strong>in</strong>e version with a user-friendly <strong>in</strong>terface,<br />

<strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g database functions like search<strong>in</strong>g, sort<strong>in</strong>g <strong>and</strong> filter<strong>in</strong>g.<br />

MATERIALS AND METHODS<br />

The cumulative <strong>in</strong>dex <strong>published</strong> here is not a mere transcription of all names<br />

from all pages of the journal, but a corrected version <strong>in</strong> which most names are<br />

listed <strong>in</strong> accordance with the current st<strong>and</strong>ards (McNeill et al. 2012, <strong>Index</strong><br />

Fungorum: http://www.<strong>in</strong>dexfungorum.org). The method of compil<strong>in</strong>g the <strong>in</strong>dex is<br />

described below.<br />
