Fincantieri per la manutenzione e riparazione delle navi della flotta Grimaldi. Il
significativo posizionamento di Fincantieri in un mercato particolarmente
qualificato come quello del Nord Europa è stato confermato con l’ordine del
gruppo armatoriale estone Tallink per la costruzione di due cruise ferry di
nuova generazione ad elevate prestazioni (uno in opzione).

for a 112,000 gt sister vessel to the “Costa Concordia” (delivered
in June 2006).
In December, Fincantieri and Carnival entered an agreement (finalized
early in 2006), worth nearly Euro 3 billion, to build six vessels, of which
two on option, for four of its brands: for Holland America Line, the prototype
of the 86,000 gt “Signature” class; for Princess Cruises, a
113,000 gt vessel (with an option on another); for Carnival Cruise
Lines, the prototype of a new 130,000 gt class (plus a sister vessel on
option), the largest so far commissioned for the Group’s historic brand;
and for Costa Crociere a 112,000 gt vessel. The agreement ensures
continuity of production in the yards dedicated to cruise ship building
till 2010, and also confirms the preferential nature of the relationship
between Fincantieri and Carnival.
In June 2006, the Company received an order from Carnival Group for
two 92,700 gt vessels, of which one on option, for Costa Crociere. These
ships will be built in Marghera for delivery in 2009 and 2010.
In 2005, Fincantieri secured an order from the Norwegian OVDS for a
vessel suitable for summer cruises off Greenland and winter sailing on
the Coastal Express route along the Western coasts of Norway.
The Company’s strategy in the merchant sector – to concentrate on
ferries – proved successful in both Italy and overseas. Major orders
were received for specialized vessels answering widely differing
market and regulatory requirements and all characterized by considerable
complexities both at design and construction stage.
In March 2005, Gruppo Grimaldi Napoli placed an order for two cruise
ferries and two ro-pax vessels (for passengers, trailers and cars), with
an option on a further two. This order is part of a wide-reaching alliance
between the two groups, involving the possibility of developing new
projects and using Fincantieri yards to carry out maintenance and
repairs on Grimaldi’s fleet. In Northern Europe, Fincantieri’s significant
positioning in this demanding market was confirmed by an order from
the Estonian Tallink for two new-generation high-performance cruise
ferries (one of which on option).
