I SENTIMENTI DEGLI EUROPEI VERSO GLI STATI UNITI<br />
RIMANGONO MODERATAMENTE POSITIVI<br />
Nel complesso, il “termometro” dei sentimenti<br />
europei verso gli Stati Uniti continua a in<strong>di</strong>care una<br />
temperatura moderatamente alta, a 50° su una scala<br />
<strong>di</strong> lettura da 1 a 100. Cambiamenti si rilevano solo<br />
in Gran Bretagna, dove la temperatura è scesa da<br />
62° a 57°, e in Italia, dove si è passati da 61° a 57°. Dal<br />
canto loro, gli americani danno dei loro alleati europei<br />
valutazioni più positive, <strong>di</strong> 60° o più per<br />
Germania, Spagna, Gran Bretagna e Italia; per la<br />
Francia, il termometro è in salita per il secondo<br />
anno consecutivo, con una crescita dai 45° del 2003<br />
ai 53° nel <strong>2005</strong>. (v. Figura 3)<br />
GERMANIA: OPINIONI DIVERSIFICATE SULLA<br />
PARTNERSHIP CON GLI STATI UNITI<br />
Stati Uniti dovrebbe rafforzarsi o rimanere così<br />
com’è, contro appena il 29% della sinistra.<br />
Analogamente, il sostegno tedesco alla Nato, che nel<br />
complesso è sceso dal 74% del 2002 al 59% nel <strong>2005</strong>,<br />
rimane più alto a destra (62%) e al centro (64%) che a<br />
sinistra (53%).<br />
I TURCHI SONO I PIÙ CRITICI VERSO GLI STATI UNITI<br />
MA CONTINUANO A SOSTENERE LA NATO<br />
Così come nel 2004, gli intervistati turchi rimangono<br />
i più fortemente critici della leadership <strong>di</strong> Bush:<br />
il 63% ne <strong>di</strong>sapprova nettamente la politica estera.<br />
Allo stesso tempo, il sostegno turco per la Nato rimane<br />
sostanzialmente invariato rispetto al passato: il<br />
52% dei turchi ritiene che l’Alleanza Atlantica sia<br />
“ancora essenziale per la sicurezza del proprio<br />
Paese”.<br />
Il 49% dei tedeschi che si schierano politicamente a<br />
destra e il 54% <strong>di</strong> quelli che si identificano con il<br />
centro pensano che la partnership Unione europea -<br />
