19Convention on the exchange of plant materialSince the endorsement of the Convention on Biological Diversity(Rio de Janeiro, 1992), botanic gardens have to comply with article15 (access to genetic resources), especially concerning theexchange of plant material. In consideration of the convention, ourbotanic gardens will ship plant material only to those who use itaccording to the Convention on Biological Diversity.The seeds from our Index Seminum, as well as any other plantmaterial from our botanic gardens, are distributed under thefollowing conditions: The plant material is used exclusively for the public good,especially for scientific research, conservation of species,education, and public relation activity. We emphasize that in the case of commercial purpose, theuser has to inform the Tel Aviv University Botanic Gardensbecause a commercial use of plant material is subject to aspecial agreement.Seed orders from botanical gardens are accepted free of charge.Other orders will be charged specifically.In case that our plant material is used for a publication, the botanicgardens should be quoted as a source of supply and receive areprint.All seeds collected in the botanic gardens are a result of openpollination unless otherwise noted. Hybridization may occur andseeds may have a reduced capacity for germination. Please let usknow if you find any misidentified species.
