AN ITALIAN STORY
Gianluca, Sabrina e Carlo Tanzi.
CTS nasce dall’evoluzione di un laboratorio artigianale fondato da Carlo Tanzi a metà degli
anni sessanta a Carate Brianza, proprio al centro della Brianza, territorio che rappresenta
l’eccellenza del design italiano. La piccola unità produttiva comincia a realizzare imbottiti,
poltrone e divani comodi e di alta qualità. Il laboratorio si trasforma in impresa e
diventa dopo gli anni settanta un’industria di successo sul mercato italiano. Tutto questo
grazie alle idee fervide di Carlo Tanzi e al contributo progettuale e creativo di industrial
designers che hanno condiviso la scelta di “design della qualità” iniziata dalla proprietà.
Con l’entrata in azienda dei figli Sabrina e Gianluca, la visione progettuale e
la personalità estetica dei prodotti si rinnova e si rafforza a tal punto da costituire
una collezione di imbottiti con un più alto grado di expertise, valore determinante
per la costruzione di un’immagine internazionale. È proprio da questo punto in poi che
le poltrone e i divani CTS non solo diventano protagonisti di storie di design che appartengono
a tante case del mondo, ma grazie alla collaborazione con architetti del settore contract,
diventano “primi attori” di prestigiosi hotel e spazi collettivi nel mondo.
CTS was established as the evolution of an artisan workshop founded by Carlo Tanzi
in the mid-sixties in Carate Brianza, right in the heart of the Brianza territory that
represents Italian design excellence. The small production unit began making upholstered
furniture - comfortable, fine quality armchairs and sofas. This workshop expanded
into a larger business enterprise, then at the end of the seventies, it became a successful
industry on the Italian market. All of this thanks to the impassioned ideas of Carlo Tanzi
and to the design and creative input from industrial designers who agreed with the owner’s
decision to go with “quality design”. When Carlo’s children, Sabrina and Gianluca, joined
the company, the design vision and the aesthetic personality of the products were renewed
and reinforced and they were turned into a collection of upholstered furniture with a wealth
of expertise, a crucial value to build up an international image. This was the point when the CTS
armchairs and sofas not only became protagonists of the design stories behind many homes
all over the world but, through the collaboration with architects from the contract sector, they
also became the “lead players” in prestigious hotels and community spaces throughout the world.
