by composer John Dorr<br />
while still a classical music student at university,<br />
Stems have toured Europe several times<br />
and have developed a following based on their<br />
reputation for dazzling and intense concerts.<br />
Mixing classical instruments and composition<br />
techniques with avant garde rock and film<br />
soundtracks their music is often described as<br />
‘Cinematic’ and sometimes labelled Post-Rock<br />
or Neo-Classical.They have performed in unusual<br />
venues from rooftops in Amsterdam to former<br />
swimming pools in Nuremberg, they have received<br />
commissions from B.F.I. to supply new live<br />
soundtracks to Georges Méliés’ silent films and<br />
they participated in the Leeds internal film<br />
festival, the Sensoria festival in Sheffield.<br />
In July 2017 they will be in Croatia for the<br />
Tabor international film festival. There have<br />
self released 4 albums on CD, with very positive<br />
reviews and recently they crowdfunded a<br />
vinyl, which achieved funding in 4 days. Besides<br />
all the positive online reviews, the band<br />
has recently gained a small amount of press in<br />
The Netherlands, including a TV appearance and<br />
several radio live shows and interviews.<br />
