Tables 111 and W cover 208 financial holding companies with not less than
€12.5m in financial investments and €12.5m in shareholders' equity. Table I11 lists
these companies by size of investtnent, defined as equity participations plus
amounts due from associated and other companies. Table IV gives the companies'
profit and loss accounts listed as ranked in Table 111.
Tables V and VI cover 71 fmancial service companies with net financial
income of at least €1Sm or share capital of €1 Sm. Table V gives their profit and
loss figures and lists them on the basis of total net financial income (profits on
financial transactions, commissions receivable, interest receivable, dividends less
losses on financial transactions, commissions payable and interest payable). Table
VI shows their balance sheet figures using the same ranking.
Tables VI1 and V111 cover 67 leasing companies which had goods out on lease
at the end of 1998 to the net value of not less than E30m. Table VI1 gives their
balance sheet figures, with the companies ranked by the value of goods on lease.
Table VIII gives their profit and loss figures using the same ranking.
Tables IX and X cover 69 factors and consumer tinance companies, with
turnover from their principal business at the end of 1998 of not less than e7.h.
Table IX gives balance sheet figures, with the companies ranked by total factoring
commitments and loans outstanding. Table X shows their profit and loss figures
