|Reſlections| A cabana

|Reſlections| A cabana overlooks a spectacular sunset at Six Senses Ibiza breathwork and yoga. “It’s a combination of medically led programmes and treatments that work on the nervous system that can augment therapies and improve your resilience and therefore the ageing process,” says Lewis. One example: hot and cold therapy, such as an infrared sauna and cold plunge or full-body cryo, known to reduce inflammation. Across the sea on mainland Spain, leading health resort SHA Wellness Clinic has a programme (shawellness.com) which promises to slow biological ageing. The resort, which first opened in 2008 at the base of a reserve in Alicante, is known for its healthy fine-dining food, state-of-the-art treatment centre and spectacular Mediterranean views. Here, patients enrolled in the healthy anti-ageing programme have days packed with cardiological consultations, lungdetox nebulisations, liver ultrasounds and spirometry (a breath and lung test), as well as lymphatic drainage and acupuncture, all administered in the sleek clinic. Free time is spent lounging around the sparkling pool or partaking in group Pilates classes. For most of these resorts, a remote and exotic location proves key to helping guests destress and disconnect from daily life, further accelerating the treatments. Soneva Jani in the Maldives is no exception. The newest addition to its hefty spa menu is the Time Rewind Program (soneva.com), a seven or 14-day experience focused on healthy ageing, with innovative treatments like Prolozone regenerativemedicine injections to relieve pain, microneedling with platelet-rich Plasma, which enhances enhance collagen and elastin production, and NAD IV therapy, which helps with cell repair. “Essential to graceful ageing is ensuring that each individual cell receives optimal nourishment and oxygen while remaining unburdened by toxins and environmental stressors,” says Lilly-Marie Blecher, ND and Soneva’s chief medical officer. In addition, it offers alternative healing treatments such as reiki, massage and sound healing. It comes as little surprise that many of these retreats have return customers. Some now even offer continued support once guests have completed the week-long boot camp and checked out. At The 3000 Club (3000-club.com), a new members-only club for 3,000 lucky insiders, comprehensive care is offered year-round with medical facilities in locations like Monaco and Andorra. Patients fly in for a week twice yearly to partake in a programme of mitochondrial cleansing and pathogen detox treatments plus some R&R. But the service continues even once they’re home with access to specialists available for a coaching and support programme through the members’ club. The world-renowned Clinique La Prairie in Switzerland (cliniquelaprairie.com), which has been offering innovative longevity treatments for almost a century, has opened hubs everywhere from Bangkok to Madrid, where international patients can seek frequent treatments closer to home. “It really needs to be a holistic part of everything that you do,” says Shah, who sees patients who have been treated in Maui pop into the Next|Health clinics in LA and New York for continued support. After all, living longer isn’t a short-term game. PHOTO ASSAF PINCHUK 50 CENTURION-MAGAZINE.COM
