Style & Beauty Lookbook

Style & Beauty Lookbook Hamilton & Hare’s Travel Blazer in microwaffle cotton TAILORED TO PERFECTION SPORTING CHANCE If athletic attire is at the more throwaway end of the spectrum, Brunello Cucinelli is the exception to the rule. The Italian maestro’s brand of peerless luxury, made at his epicentre in Solomeo in Umbria, means that even the most sports-centric pieces are designed with longevity in mind. To underline that mentality, the designer has created a collection based around the tenet “Be Conscious”; the initials might mirror his own, but, in terms of obvious branding, this is as far as Brunelli Cucinelli is willing to go. The range of ribbed-collar T-shirts, which bear the logo, emphasises the message that fashion isn’t disposable, with Cucinelli launching an initiative during last year’s crisis to donate his dead stock to charitable organisations helping those that need it most. brunellocucinelli.com When is a blazer not a blazer? When it’s had a considerable degree of pomp and ceremony taken out of it, and a potent dose of vitality injected in. The rigours of old-school tailoring might dictate that a blazer jacket should be a stately affair, but a host of brands have tinkered with the formula to create iterations with a looser, more casual stance. Take, for instance, Harris Wharf London (harriswharflondon.com) a London-born label specialising in soft-structure blazers constructed using light merino wool or jersey, which you can throw on with suit trousers or to smarten up a pair of jeans and a T-shirt. It’s a similar story at Hamilton and Hare (hamiltonandhare.com), the independent British brand run by designer Olivia Francis, which has moved on from handmade underwear and loungewear to relaxed tailored jackets. The designer has created a series of blazers – with matching trousers – designed for brisk city life and travelling, using textured cotton in a waffle weave that’s crinkle-free. So much so, in fact, that it’s billed as “A Suit You Can Sleep In” while travelling long haul, looking as pin sharp as it did when you boarded.
