Intro to PSYCHOANALYSIS

Intro to PSYCHOANALYSIS with Orna Guralnik I make sure to read poetry. It is all about being in a state of making space for the unconscious to show itself. PHOTOS COURTESY OF SHOWTIME NETWORKS INC. 62

THE ART OF LISTENING Dr Orna Guralnik’s first TV show, Couples Therapy, broke the mould when it debuted in 2019. Now in its third season, the docuseries is a raw, sometimes painful, sometimes euphoric, but ultimately rewarding look at what it means to successfully navigate coupledom today. In a medium littered with manufactured drama and contrived cliffhangers, the series has been lauded by critics as a breath of fresh air. The sheer watchability of each nine-episode season, which follows several couples as they embark on a 20-week therapy programme, comes from the vulnerability that Dr Guralnik demands of her clients, who range in age, gender and background. Within the confines of the therapy-room set – in which the overwhelming majority of the series takes place and which is modelled after Dr Guralnik’s own office – emotions are laid bare. It’s here that the renowned psychologist and NYU professor, step-bystep, uncovers the real motivations, pain or mistrust pulling each couple apart, and gently guides them toward mutual understanding and renewed compassion for one another, whatever the outcome may be. This event will take place in the following cities: New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Stockholm, Paris, Berlin, Zurich, Amsterdam, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Singapore. Full day experience.
