|On Board| The Latest Wave Esteemed brands celebrating notable landmarks are still creating eyecatching motor yachts, joined by an ever-increasing selection of innovative yards producing daring, desirable vessels of their own. Herewith, the very best – from exciting smaller craft to 100m-plus superyachts. By Cornelia Marioglou M/Y Ciao, CRN This year, Costruzioni e Riparazioni Navali (CRN), based in the ancient Italian maritime hub of Ancona on the Adriatic Sea, celebrates 60 years of shipbuilding, and a fleet that includes some iconic superyachts. Now with some visionary ideas and a major investment in enlarging the facilities, it is preparing for a promising future. Featured here, one of the latest deliveries, the beautiful 52m yacht, designed by Frank Laupman’s Dutch Omega Architects, with very detailed interiors by Italian studio Massari Design, accommodates 10 guests in five cabins. In 1963, Sanzio Nicolini founded the yard to build high-end vessels for the happy few of that time. Then came the 23m Super Conero (1970) and a collaboration with Carlo Riva that imbued the concept of pleasure yachting with dolce vita flair. In 1978, the yard produced its first yacht over 45 metres for an emir in the Middle East, which was followed by the Gerhard Gilgenast-designed 32.8m F100, built for Italian automotive tycoon Gianni Agnelli. After this, a succession of superyachts have been delivered from the yard with names that are instantly recognisable to yachting enthusiasts, milestones in yachting – Maraya (2007), Azteca (2009), Chopi Chopi (2013), Yalla (2014), Atlante (2015), Latona (2018), Rio and Ciao (2022) – and there are many more icons to come. crn-yacht.com PHOTO © CRN 60 CENTURION-MAGAZINE.COM
