cpp EDITORIAL High-performance plastics for valves and fittings Fire safe valves in great demand Danger lurks everywhere: fires are a daily risk in thechemical, oil and gas industries. In an emergency, valves must cope with extremes. Components thus need to be fire safe if they are to withstand threatening situations. No wonder demand for fire safe valves is increasing. There are fire hazards in every step of the process – not only during oil and gas production and transport but also in storage. Yet the valves should not only have a fire safe design; ideally, they should be certified as fire safe. This is where fire safe testing facilities come into play – like the ones from Amtec. These test benches allow valves to be tested according to ISO 15848-1, API 589 and 607 as well as DIN EN ISO 10497. You can find more information on them in an article on page 28 and also at the Valve World Expo, which will take place from 27 to 29 November 2018 in Dusseldorf. Occupying Halls 3, 4 and 5 of the Dusseldorf Exhibition Centre, technical highlights and products will be showcased by international specialists for valves, valve-related components and actuators.
