EUROPE TRENDING HOTELS Hotel & Tourism SMARTreport #41 2019 Winter Edition 31 31 MONACO: PRINCELY NAMES FOR A ROYAL EXPERIENCE VENICE? A SPLENDID IDEA! Splendid Venice has been hoisted into Conde Naste’s top ten hotels in Venice in their Readers’ Choice Awards 2018. General Manager Salavatore Pisani says since the hotel has undergone a €25m rebuild, it has been positioned – with its 165 rooms and suites – as a “Venetian lifestyle deluxe boutique hotel”. Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo, Princesse Grace suite Monaco’s iconic palace, the Hôtel de Paris has been undergoing a four-year major rebuild, and in addition to a new Ducasse Restaurant, Rotonde and American Bar, what are now the Principality’s most sumptuous suites have been unveiled. Available at a rate of between €30,000 and €40,000 per night, the Princess Grace Suite pays homage to the lady who marked the history of the Principality and Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo with her elegance, refinement and generosity, thanks to the presence of the Princess’ personal creations, memories and her favourite poetic and literary works. With elegant curves and minimalist lines, the Princess Grace Suite, covering 910 m 2 on two floors, offers a 180° view of the Mediterranean, and emphasises contemporaneity, transparency and the nobility of the materials, which have been enhanced by craftsmen: glass, precious wood, straw marquetry, mother-of-peal, agate panels for the interiors which exude well-being and serenity, and natural stone for the elegant and authentic outside spaces. The latest addition – opening in January 2019, is the Prince Rainier III Suite, occupying the top floor of the hotel, and overlooking the Casino Square. More than a suite, it is described as a unique experience for exceptional travellers Pisani’s team has developed and strengthened the best assets of the hotel, such as its Campiello, a large Venetian outdoor courtyard with a retractable glass roof, allowing year-round dining and socialising, the rooftop terrace and outdoor bar with panoramic views of St Mark’s Campanile, the restaurant Le Maschere, including its room of mirrors (“Sala degli Specchi”) which is available for private dinners. The Conde Nast Travelers Choice Award complements another for “outstanding financial performance”, best REVPAR, ADR and GOP percentage increase. “We will never just rest on our laurels but continue to improve every day”, concludes Pisani. Within walking distance of Saint Mark’s Square in one direction and Rialto Bridge in the other, the Splendid is perfectly located for visitors who are keen to walk the city. After a long day out, nothing beats relaxing with a cocktail at the lounge bar, which has picture windows overlooking a small canal Luxury hotel Venice Entrance Splendid, Venice
