NEWS Philips 65-inch OLED 9 Series Turns TV Into Art Philips has launched its 65-inch OLED 9 series TV, which features the P5 Perfect Picture engine and three-sided Ambilight system, at this year’s IFA. Philips said the OLED technology, the P5 engine and Ambilight combine to make the perfect partnership. The ability of OLED TVs to completely switch off their light source at each and every pixel allows an infinite black level to be reproduced. The P5 Perfect Picture engine has a processing power of four billion pixels which allows the system to continually monitor and adjust each individual pixel for sharpness and brightness, creating finer lines and deeper detail. The processing engine also includes an Ultra Resolution feature that will upscale and convert any source into a sharper, more refined, Ultra HD image. The panel’s contrast is further improved thanks to the inclusion of Philip’s Perfect Contrast system working at a multiple zonal level within the image and in partnership with Philips’ Micro Dimming Perfect technology to ensure the image contrast is always optimised. This new Philips OLED TV can also produce a peak white output of 750 nits ensuring an unmatched contrast ratio and allowing the brightest and darkest elements of an image to be reproduced on-screen simultaneously. Producing pure black levels also allows OLED sets to offer a more accurate and vibrant color palette to be produced with the 9603 reproducing an exceptionally wide color gamut (99% DCI-P3 WCG). The 65-inch OLED 9 series also enjoys an improved viewing angle over edge lit LCD TVs, Philips said, delivering consistent brightness, colour and contrast, to wherever the viewer is seated. The 65-inch OLED 9 series is powered by the Android M Smart TV system and is certified by Google, giving access to all TV orientated apps, services, and content in the Google Play Store.
