Spokesman for Electronic Partner’s Managing Directors Haruyuki Ishio n Director, Corporate Division For Promoting Energy Solution Business Panasonic Corporation Dr Rainer Hecker n Chairman of the Supervisory Board, gfu Green Products @ IFA N°04 / September 2011 - March 2012 News Prestigious Awards Evening at Adlon The annual EISA awards ceremony attracts a record attendance at Berlin’s Adlon Hotel during IFA 2011 A record number of attendees were present for the annual EISA awards presentations on Friday night at Berlin’s spectacular Adlon Hotel. 220 highranking officials from the world’s top CE companies looked on as the all-important awards were attributed. EISA is the most respected multimedia association of its kind all over the world, joining 50 magazines from 19 European countries. Next year it will commemorate 30 years of existence. Every year, the association distinguishes the products and equipment that it considers to be the best in Europe in five different categories: Audio & Home Theater, In-Car Electronics, Photo, Video and Mobile Devices. This year, awards went to a very broad range of companies. “There was no ‘usual suspect’,” says Jorge Gonçalves, President of EISA. “We are getting to a point where a lot of companies have reached a very high level. That’s also very good for us!” In total, 55 best products were awarded in numerous categories. Main award winners include (list non exhaustive): European 3D TV 2011-2012 Philips 46PFL9706 European Best Buy TV 2011-2012 Samsung UE40D6500 European Blu-ray Player 2011-2012 Sony BDP-S780 European LCD TV 2011-2012 Sony BRAVIA KDL-55HX920 European Family Camcorder 2011-2012 Sony Handycam HDR-PJ10E European Camcorder 2011-2012 Canon LEGRIA HF M41 European Video Projector 2011-2012 JVC DLA-X7 European 3D-Camcorder 2011-2012 JVC Everio GS-TD1 European 3D Home Theater Solution 2011-2012 LG 55LW650S + HLX56S European Video Projector 2011-2012 JVC DLA-X7 European 3D Home Theater Solution 2011-2012 LG 55LW650S + HLX56S VIPs attending the award ceremony included Loewe CEO Oliver Seidl, Panasonic’s European President, Laurent Philips celebrate winning the “Best 3D TV in Europe Award” Abadie, and Philips’ General Manager of Television and Executive Vice President of Philips Consumer Lifestyle Robert Smits. EISA’s outgoing Vice President, Han Avôt, gave his farewell speech after a long stay with EISA. “Modern customers are spoilt for choice with the sheer range of products they can buy to take photos, play music, create movies of their lives and communicate", says Gonçalves. “But at the same time, all these products are so sophisticated that ordinary consumers often find it very hard to choose between them. So, the credible recommendation from EISA is eagerly awaited by consumers,” adds Gonçalves. “At the same time, the EISA awards are a reason for pride from the side of the industry winners. This is because the association assures that every award decision is the result of a long process of analysis that highlights the quality, ergonomics, design and price/quality relationship of the awarded product. EISA is also leading the industry with its Green Awards judged with the technical support from two major European universities as well as SIMS recycling solutions in the Netherlands. Currently there are two Green Awards: the Green Award for Mobile Phones (won this year by Sony Ericsson for its Xperia Mini phone), and the Green TV Award (won this year by Philips for the 46PFL6806 TV). Mr Gonçalves told IFA International that a third Green category may be announced for next year (possibly printers), but the selection process would be very difficult: “The problem is always in defining the standards, because in some cases there are absolutely no standards.” The cream of the industry gather in the city for the annual EISA awards How was EISA formed? 50 magazines from 19 different European countries joined together forming the worlds most prestigious multimedia magazines association - EISA. In June each year, the editors-in-chief from all EISA member magazines meet to decide which of the products analyzed in their publications during the past year deserve the coveted EISA Award. The six categories under consideration are: Audio, Video, Home Theater, Photography, In-Car Electronics Electronics and Mobile Devices. Results are announced mid-August, and the awards ceremony takes place alongside IFA Berlin, highlighting many of the top companies exhibiting at the show. cleverdis & eisa Cleverdis publications are official media partners of EISA.
