Special Feature The Nomadic Revolution Tried, trusted and road-tested New 20 series completes Navigon’s product line-up 20 Vision: the new Navigon 20 Plus makes market debut “In terms of screen size and features, we now have a complete line-up, from the original 84 series through to the 70 series introduced two months ago,” Minar said. “The 70 series has a five-inch screen, while the 40 series has 4.3-inch screens and the newly introduced 20 series has a 3.5-inch monitor.” In terms of optional features, Navigon offers a three-tier service, starting on the Navigon 20 series with Easy, designed for people who want a simple device; and Plus, which includes a motion sensor and the Navigon Sightseeing Tours. By Joanna Stephens Navigon’s Egon Minar: “clear orientation” With the introduction of the Navigon 20 series, CEO Egon Minar believes that the German navigation company now offers a comprehensive range of stand-alone devices. “Our intention is to offer customers very clear orientation through the product range,” Minar said. “For the Navigon 40 range, we offer a basic model, then Plus, which has a oneclick menu, text-to-speech and Europe 43. Navigon 40 Premium and Navigon Premium Live includes Google Local Search, Traffic Live, Mobile Safety Camera Live, Weather Live and Clever Parking Live.” All the Live services are constantly connected. In addition to its stand-alone devices, the company has created applications for the iPhone as well as for Android and Windows Mobile smartphones. “We have one million iPhone users and they provide a lot of updates for us,” Minar said. “Of course, it’s an opt-in service, but nearly every single one of our iPhone app users has opted to send us real-time information. In terms of our Live services for the standalone devices, Parking Live not only tells you which car parks have free capacity, but it also enables the user to compare prices — as does Fuel Live, which offers price comparisons alongside the locations of all the nearest petrol stations.” In a further development, users of the 84 series will soon be able to upgrade their device to include such features as the Active Lane Assistant, Navigon Sightseeing, City View3D 2.0, Navigon MyBest POI and One Click Menu. This means that drivers not only arrive safely and comfortably at their destination, but they also receive useful information on tourist attractions along the way. “With this upgrade, we are making sure our customers, particularly those in the premium segment, have access to new developments for their devices,” Minar said. “It also means that our existing customers can benefit immediately from the latest innovations featured on the new devices.” Hall 9 Stand 203 22
