News MORE VIDEO VIEWED

News MORE VIDEO VIEWED ON TABLETS Online digital video distribution now allows consumers to access more content, on more devices, and in more places, than ever before. This increase in access has made content more ubiquitous than ever, but availability is only a part of the story. Equally important is how, and on what devices, consumers are accessing this content, and the increasing role of mobile devices for video consumption. New In-Stat research reports that 50% of tablet owners are viewing not only feature-length movies on their devices, but TV shows as well. Tablet and smartphones are not only becoming vital new screens for video consumption, but are also functioning as personal interaction devices for video-centric social networking and applications. “Tablets, in particular, have become a primary video device, both inside and outside the home,” said Keith Nissen, Research Director. “By 2015, our research projects that 65% of the US population will own a smartphone and/or tablet.” >> www.in-stat.com 3D Smartphone with 3D Sound DTS, the HD audio company, has provided the audio technology for the Optimus 3D smartphone from LG. The LG Optimus 3D’s glasses-free 3D visual display is supported by tridual architecture — dual-core, dualchannel, dual-memory — boosting the smartphone’s performance. The dynamic sound serves to complement the 3D-capable visual display. “As mobile manufacturers continue to increase and advance the mediafocused capabilities of emerging mobile devices, the audio quality can no longer be ignored,” said Brian Towne, Executive Vice President and Chief Operationg Officer of DTS. “The consumer now demands that superior audio and visual features are aligned to deliver the best possible experience.” The Optimus 3D builds on the partnership between DTS and LG announced earlier this year. LG’s newest 3D smartphone offering includes DTS’ high-performance technology, which enables users to stream content from their phones to a number of external sources, while experiencing superior sound quality. Hall 11.2 Stand 101 Missing Link to Online Security When anti-virus and anti-spam aren’t enough… IFA is not just about hardware, and software company OC Shield is in the Reseller Park showing why antivirus, firewalls and anti-spam may not be enough protection. Internet cybercrime, theft of money (including online banking and credit cards) skyrocketed to 1 billion last year. Clearly, internet security is still a work in progress… The bad guys in the world of the Internet steadily increase their cyber attacks on public, government and business: sometimes for profit, sometimes for fun, and sometimes for anarchy. OC Shield says it is the first company to provide comprehensive anti-virus, firewall and anti-spam protection included in an encrypted Internet configuration for consumers. The missing link to complete online security, OC Shield’s Encrypted “protect users against online cybercrime, such as data theft, credit card and ID theft.” Internet 2011 secures the user’s unsecured and even HTTPS connections. Encrypted Internet 2012 intends to specifically protect users against online cybercrime, such as data theft, credit card and ID theft. The software is unlike any current software and encrypts all online data 7x24. OC Shield alleges it is the first to market a retail product that is proven to completely stop cybercrime incidents, and says that its customers have no reported incidents.
