I CONFERENCES I

I CONFERENCES I ADVERTORIAL IT'S TIME FOR FOLDABLE SMARTPHONES TO STEP INTO THE LIMELIGHT... George Zhao HONOR CEO HONOR looks to the future with highly anticipated foldable smartphones HONOR will be kicking off IFA this year with their opening keynote on the 1 st of September Visitors to IFA Berlin 2023 can look forward to HONOR's presence at IFA this year. Last year’s keynote “Embracing the Connected Future” opened up a world of possibilities with the announcement of HONOR’s product launches in Europe and the company's vision for a collaborative connected future. This year promises to be particularly exciting with HONOR’s much anticipated opening keynote "Unfold Tomorrow" set to take place on the 1st of September at 10:00. Entitled “Unfold Tomorrow”, HONOR’s opening keynote will be given by HONOR CEO George Zhao and explore "how technology sets trends that influence every aspect of our lives today". According to HONOR, consumers' choices are not only a reflection of their style, but they also "express part of people's identity and how we choose to live our lives". Since their inception, foldable smartphones’ constant evolution has been incredible. HONOR has come a long way with each iteration of foldable smartphones, showcasing impressive advancements in design, functionality and durability. According to the company, “It's time for foldable smartphones to step into the limelight, using technology to empower the fashion industry and reshape future life experiences.” HONOR will focus on this concept in Mr Zhao’s keynote and explore the rise of emerging foldable technology and its impact on creativity, as well as how this could influence lifestyle as a whole in the future. Just as the smartphone was a major revolution for the industry, foldable smartphones and their evolving technology are on the starting blocks to set a new standard and norm in terms of comfort, design and identity. One of the most anticipated elements of HONOR’s keynote is of course the announced unveiling of the HONOR Magic V2. The updated version of HONOR’s renowned foldable smartphone, the Magic V, is lighter and more compact, and the company states it will be “extraordinary, effortless and intuitive”. With the Magic V2, a whole new level of possibilities is expected. HONOR is encouraging us to “step out of the galaxy’s shadows and ignite a new era of innovation” and is offering "a foldable smartphone like nothing we’ve ever seen before". The lightness of the phone for the level of pixels, displays and batteries is unbelievably impressive, and the renowned YouTuber JerryRigEverything said of the phone that, “HONOR makes the Magic V2 to be the thinnest and lightest book-style folding smartphone on the planet.” As a leading global provider of smart devices, HONOR is committed to facilitating a smart life across all scenarios and all channels, for all people. With a strategic focus on innovation, quality and service, HONOR is dedicated to developing technology that empowers people around the globe. Using its R&D capabilities and forward-looking technology, it is aiming to use its innovative products to create a new intelligent world for everyone. Their opening keynote is one of the most anticipated events at IFA this year, and a powerful and exciting way to kick off the world’s largest consumer electronics and home appliances trade show KEYNOTE SESSION Date: 1 ST September 2023 Location: Main stage - HALL 21 HONOR OPENING KEYNOTE "UNFOLD TOMORROW" > 10:00 a.m. 6 IFA INTERNATIONAL • FRIDAY 25 TH AUGUST 2023 www.ifa-berlin.com/content-hub

I IFA LEADERS SUMMIT I The IFA Leaders Summit 2023 will be taking place on the Main Stage on the first two days of the show, the 1 st and 2 nd of September, with an exciting lineup of some of the most inspiring leaders in the industry. The summit will tackle topics related to "leading in an era of disruption, innovation and change", focusing on AI, IoT, the cost of living, competition in technology, and others. IFA Leaders Summit keynote speaker Prof. Chris Miller on the importance of semiconductors Semiconductor chips are at the core of new technologies and innovations including AI, quantum computing, nanotechnology, and self-driving cars, to name a few. They are playing a key role in geopolitical competition, and the stakes are high. Professor Chris Miller, author of 'Chip War: The Fight for the World's Most Critical Technology', discusses how control over semiconductors will determine the future of computing, innovation and growth, ahead of his keynote at this year's IFA’s Leaders Summit. We asked Professor Miller about the role of Europe in the international struggle over semiconductor chips, specifically following the European Chips Act, which was created to encourage the production and creation of semiconductor chips inside the EU. Miller emphasised that Europe already has a foothold in several aspects of the semiconductor chip industry, and that it should focus on continuing to develop these rather than trying to be at the cutting-edge of production: “European firms play a bigger role in other parts of the semiconductor supply chain. For example, in producing manufacturing equipment, specialised chemicals, or types of chips like sensors and power management chips that don't require the smallest geometries.” Focusing on the aspects of the semiconductor industry that it already has a strong foothold in will enable the continent to have continued success in the sector and carve out an important niche, according to Miller. For instance, Dutch company ASML is one of the most important players in the world of semiconductor chips today. ASML is the sole supplier of extreme ultraviolet lithography (EUV) photolithography machines, which are required to make the most advanced chips. When Prof. Chris Miller, author of "Chip War", Assistant Professor at The Fletcher School and Director at Greenmantle, will be speaking at the IFA Leaders Summit on 1 st September asked if a monopoly on this type of technology could be dangerous and whether governments should intervene and break up companies with too much dominance, Miller was firmly against the idea. He stated that while “concentration in the chip industry creates inevitable concerns about security of supply and worries about the risks of single sourcing, the industry is defined by large economies of scale.” He emphasised that “we need big firms to manufacture efficiently” KEYNOTE SESSION Date: 1 ST September 2023 Location: Main Stage THE TECHNOLOGY ARMS RACE AND THE FIGHT FOR GLOBAL CHIP SUPREMACY > 11:55 a.m. – 12:25 p.m. FIRESIDE CHAT WITH PROFESSOR CHRIS MILLER > 5:35 – 5:55 p.m. Angie Gifford, Vice President for the EMEA region, Meta THE POTENTIAL OF THE METAVERSE AT IFA 2023 Another conference not to miss on the IFA Leaders Summit agenda is 'The virtual frontier: What are the implications of the metaverse for consumers, creators and companies?' with Angie Gifford from Meta. Angie Gifford is the company's Vice President for the EMEA region, overseeing the business development for the platforms Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, and Meta Quest in countries across Europe, the Middle East, and the African continent. In 2009, an independent organisation named Angie Gifford “businesswoman of the year”. In her conference, Angie Gifford will explore the metaverse and how it is always evolving, allowing users to interact in ways that "were never possible before". From virtual reality worlds with their own physics and environment to simulated scenarios and events, the metaverse provides an immersive experience that blurs the lines between physical and digital space. Although the metaverse represents a huge source of potential, it is often misunderstood. Ms Gifford will attempt to answer some of the main questions surrounding it, and how to harness its power for commerce. She will also discuss ethical questions, such as privacy and security. Angie Gifford underlined the importance of the metaverse for companies ahead of her conference: "The metaverse promises breakthrough possibilities for the future of business. Companies that experiment now will be well positioned to make the most of this emerging opportunity" CONFERENCE Date: 1 ST September 2023 Location: Main Stage THE VIRTUAL FRONTIER: WHAT ARE THE IMPLICATIONS OF THE METAVERSE FOR CONSUMERS, CREATORS AND COMPANIES? > 2:25 – 2:45 p.m. IFA INTERNATIONAL • FRIDAY 25 TH AUGUST 2023 7
