I’ve been here about 2 1/2 years. Prior to this, I practiced law at a commercial litigation firm for approximately 19 years. This included six years of representing NetJets on various matters, including a significant case with the IRS regarding federal excise taxes. For a long time, I thought I would spend my whole career as a litigator, but then this amazing opportunity came up, and I jumped at it—and it has since exceeded every expectation. WHAT DOES YOUR NORMAL DAY CONSIST OF? My days can be fairly unpredictable, but at a high level they are generally composed of three parts. Some part of my day includes strategic planning with the executive team on future plans for the business. Another portion of my day is spent in meetings with my team members across the various business functions. In these meetings, we take the executive strategies and implement them at a project level. And then another part of a typical day is spent addressing new matters that arise and require immediate attention. WHAT IS THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE YOU FACE IN YOUR ROLE? Starting in March of this year, my role expanded to include real estate and facilities, risk and audit, global security, and procurement. And in September, I became responsible for IT as well. Each of these areas has its own unique set of issues, projects, and goals. This requires me to really prioritize my time so that I can devote the focus and attention that each area, and each underlying project, deserves. At the same time, being involved in so many different aspects of the business is a tremendous opportunity, and I am enjoying every minute of it. NetJets 25
