TAKING OFF In this, the fourth issue of our biannual title, we introduce you to the man now helming NetJets Europe, our new CEO Mario Pacifico, who shares his vision for the business and the opportunities that abound in 2018 and in the years to come, both in our hereabouts and farther afield. In fact, this edition of NetJets, The Magazine is all about introductions and experiences close to home and, given that we are all global citizens, in the far corners of the world as well. For example, we visit the Director and owner of one of the world’s most legendary interior-design companies, Linda Pinto, in Paris and we journey to the wilds of Papua New Guinea with renowned photographer Steve McCurry. The results of his extraordinary voyage are exclusively showcased starting on page 74. In Berlin, we meet the inventive and genrebreaking chef Tim Raue, and we travel to Singapore to find that the Lion City is very much roaring. A dispatch from Australia reveals that happenings Down Under are also of an effervescent nature, while over in the Azores, it is their unlikely and hitherto unfancied viticulture scene that’s now erupting full force from the island’s volcanic soils. Wanderlust-inducing stories notwithstanding, there are features on culture and the arts, interiors and design, as well as a preview of the forthcoming Ryder Cup. There is also a prescient piece on how to tackle (or at least mitigate) the fear of flying, courtesy of a programme developed by Richard Parkinson, NetJets Assistant Chief Pilot, Gulfstream Fleet, which has already alleviated the angst that one Owner regularly faced. Carrie Hutchinson Surveying Southern Visions (p22), the Melbourne native discovered a host of developments in Australia’s hospitality and cultural scenes from Brisbane around to Perth. Sanjay Surana Having been raised in London and lived in New York and Hong Kong, the Singaporebased writer is well placed to judge how the changing face of his new home compares to those urban behemoths in The Lion Roars (p50). Nicole Swengley For Interior Indulgence (p58), the design connoisseur looked at the trends emanating from the recent furniture and lifestyle fairs around Europe and selected the must-have products for the most stylish of homes.
