Preface
The Statistical Yearbook of Norway 1991 contains figures for recent years from various fields of
Norwegian official statistics. The yearbook also contains main figures from other countries
selected from international statistics. The figures make up 558 tables classified according to
subject and give information on subjects like environment, population, social conditions,
industrial life and economy.
In this year's edition, the 110th issue, the selection of tables is mainly identical to last year's
issue. However, twelve tables with figures of less importance have been replaced by new figures
for children by type of family and relationship to brothers and sisters, for institutions for children,
youth, aged, alcoholics and drug addicts and for HIV and AIDS. The new tables, 22 in total,
contains else figures on corporations income and property accounts, transport performances of
motor-lorries, the country's stock of real capital and figures on consumption and consumer prices
in OECD countries.
The Statistical Yearbook is a practical reference book for private and professional use. With its
comprehensive index and source references the yearbook is also a good starting point for all who
search for more detailed statistics.
The yearbook is edited by Dr. Idar Moglestue assisted by Mrs. Elly Lie.
